Chapter 16

-New and Coming Soon-

All movie and TV premiere dates are for the US, but hopefully this will still be helpful for those of you in other parts of the world as well, to give you an idea of what you might be interested in seeing.

Movies:

The Divergent Series: Allegiant [PG-13] -  March 18

The third and final movie in the Divergent Series, Allegiant follows Tris and Four as they move beyond the walls of the city and venture out into the world beyond. Secrets will be uncovered, loyalties will be tested, and if it's anything like the book, we're in for one heck of a ride.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice [PG-13] - March 25

For fans of the Man of Steel, this is a must-see movie. And if the idea of Batman and Superman facing off against each other in an ultimate superhero showdown gets you excited, this is the movie for you. From the trailers, it promises both massive action and a slightly different take on the characters we know and love.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 [PG-13] - March 25

If you were in high school or college in the early 2000s, you probably saw the original. Now, our favorite weird and wacky family is back for another wedding that is guaranteed to be full of love, laughs, and insanity. If Batman v Superman sounds too intense for you, this is a perfect alternative.

I Saw the Light [R] - April 1

I think it's a generally accepted fact among fandom that Tom Hiddleston is a gift to mankind, so if you're looking to see him in something, you might enjoy this movie. It follows the life of country singer Hank Williams, telling the story of both his music and his personal struggles. An added bonus: Tom Hiddleston did all his own singing for this role.

Television:

❊Shows with an asterisk are new this year.

Daredevil, Season 2 - March 18

One of the best superhero shows out there, Daredevil premieres its second season on Netflix this month. The show is undeniably dark, but Matt Murdock’s struggle to protect his city by whatever means necessary makes for compelling television. Whether it’s fighting for justice as a lawyer in a courtroom, or beating down criminals in back alleys, he’ll do whatever it takes to protect others, no matter the cost to himself. (Warning: this show is rated TV-MA for some rather brutal violence.)

Dancing with the Stars, Season 22 - March 21

Season 22 of this long-running dance show premieres on ABC this year, and features, as usual, a widely varied list of celebrities. Among the contestants are Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown, actress Jodie Sweetin (of Full and Fuller House), and one of Donald Trump’s ex-wives, Marla Maples. If you like reality TV and dance routines, this show is guaranteed to please.

❊Heartbeat, Season 1 - March 23

A new show premiering on NBC this month, Heartbeat centers around the life of a world-renowned heart transplant surgeon, focusing on both her medical exploits and her complicated personal life. If you like medical dramas, this could be right up your alley.

❊The Catch, Season 1 - March 24

Premiering on ABC, The Catch will follow a tough-as-nails private investigator from LA as she tracks down her fiance, who conned her out of millions of dollars before vanishing. The show is produced by Shonda Rhimes, and will be taking over How to Get Away with Murder’s Thursday night slot after that show’s season finale.

❊Rush Hour, Season 1 - March 31

A reimagining of the film series, Rush Hour is a buddy-cop drama premiering on CBS. When Detectives Carter and Lee are forced into an unlikely partnership, they butt heads but also manage to solve cases and catch bad guys. If you like your police procedurals with a healthy helping of comedy, this is probably the show for you.
