Chapter 3

It was a quiet morning, dewdrops had caught in spiderwebs and were now reflecting off the sun. The river is beautiful at this time in the day. As I sat there peacefully for a while, caught in thought as I waited for the others, a magnificent, black bird landed on me. It was huge and had an intelligent grace to him as he settled onto my shoulders. I was startled for a moment but then I decided that the bird would not do me any harm. We sat there for a while, the bird and I. I was staring at the river, I wondered what would happen if I jumped, Would all my suffering cease or would it carry on the same. The bird looked at me, startled as if it could think what I was thinking. It looked at me in my eyes and that's when I knew this wasn't just any bird, it was My bird. All of a sudden the peace and quiet shattered as all the people from our 'camp' came out yelling and screaming, trying to get sorted into a group with there friends. My bird flew up into the trees above, but I knew he would not leave, for he was My bird.
