14 YEARS LATER Chapter One Bzzz, Bzzz, Bzzz, BzBzBzBzBzBz, Bzzzzz. My phone buzzed on my HoverStand, I grabbed my phone and answered the call. All I heard was squeaking so I thought it must be a prank or a butt dial. I looked at my clock and saw that it said 4:09. Shoot! I am supposed to meet Zac at the Library at 4:20! I jumped out of my hammock and rushed to my closet. I quickly pulled on the jeans that my mom hates because they have holes on the knees and pulled on my black T-shirt. I ran down stairs and grabbed by backpack and shoved the 3 Element crystals that I had collected and my HoverBlades into it and hopped into my shoes and ran into the garage and opened the door and almost fell out. I guess I forgot that my house is floating 50 feet off the ground. I ran back into the garage and stood under the square of light in the middle of my garage. Then a machine lonto it, gliding towards the ground.I sped towards the library. When I arrived at the library Zac was waiting for me at a table. I walked to the table and sat down beside him. When I sat down I placed my backpack on the table and pulled out the Fire crystal, the Water crystal and the Ice crystal. The Fire crystal is fiery red with streaks of orange and yellow.the water crystal is a mix of turquoises , blues, and aquamarines. The Ice crystal is pale blue like ice with some darker blue and white mixed in. Zac puts his backpack on the table and pulls out the 2 Element crystals he found, the Shadow and the Earth crystals. The Shadow crystal is pitch black with some streaks of gray and some dark blue. The Earth crystal is muddy brown with dots of mahogany and all shades of brown it has all the shades of green streaks too. “So why did you want me to meet you here with al the Element crystals I could find? They are so hard to find!” I ask Zac “Oh, right. Hey do you know Zayna!” he asks me “Yeah! That 26 year old lunatic!” “She is not a lunatic! Her story is true!” “It is?” “Yeah!” “How?” “It happened to me!” “Sure, you disappeared, but your still here” “No, no I mean when I was sitting on my bed drinking AquaAid a hand grabbed my arm and pulled me back into a sort of time pocket, time stopped! I threw my AquaAid bottle at his face and he let go of me and I was back in regular time again” “Woah, but what does that have to do with finding Element crystals and meeting you here at 4:20 am! And did you say you saw his face?” “Well yes, I think it was a mans face, but it was hard to tell, it was dark. And what it has to do with the crystals and you meeting me here this early is that, well, I think that the key to finding him and Zoe is putting all the crystals into a machine that we can build, and I already have sort of a diagram for it!” Zac said rapidly growing excited “Well, let’s see it!” “See what?” “The diagram you made of the machine” “Oh, that, sure” Zac pulled a flat metal disk out of his backpack. He pressed the middle and a hologram diagram popped up. The machine was a cylinder tower with a magnifying glass at the top and slots to stick the crystals in all along the sides. There were also four flashlights at the bottom. “How does it work?” I asked him “Well, you put all the crystals in each of the slots and turn the flashlights on. The light from the flashlights will travel through each of the crystals carrying some of their power with it, when the lights reach the magnifying glass they will combine as they pass through the magnifying glass and the spot they hit the floor or wall, hopefully, if it works you will be able to walk through that area and be in a time pocket, you should be able to go anywhere from there!” “Wow!” “I know” “When should we start building?” “Hey, are you free tomorrow?” “Yeah, all day, are you?” “I am, all day too! What if you come to my house early in the morning and we can work all day on it!” “What about your parents, won’t they see?” “Nope, they leave at 3:00 am for their jobs and get back at 11:30 pm” “Great! I can come over at 3:30 and leave at 11:00 pm!” “Yes! I-I-I mean um, see you then, cool!” “Y-y-yeah sure, I’ll be there! Tomorrow, right?” “Wait, how ‘bout today! When do your parents leave?” “4:50” “Great! See you at 4:50!” “Bye!” “Bye” I stood up, stuffed the Crystals that I had collected in my backpack, slung it over my back and hopped on my HoverBoard and zoomed back to my house. When I got back to my house it was 4:45. Oh shoot! My parents wake up at 4:50 to go to work!. I dropped my HoverBoard, HoverBlades and helmet in the garage and rushed into the house. As quietly and as quickly as I could I tiptoed up the stairs and dumped my backpack in my closet and dived into my hammock. I pulled the covers up above my head so that if they came in my room they would not see that I was in my clothes and it would look like I was sleeping. When I was under my covers I checked the time. Whew. I thought, 4:49, just in time. I sighed and quickly closed my eyes as I heard the floor in my parents bedroom across the hall creak and they got out of their bed. I waited until I heard them leave the house and then jumped out of my hammock, grabbing my backpack, computer, phone, earbuds, and tool kit. I stuffed all of my stuff in my backpack as I ran down the hall. Stopping in the kitchen to grab a quick snack, I headed out the door. I free fell for 30 feet until I had put my hoverboard under my feet and gliding the rest of the way down.
