My Handbook of Duelling

written by Hiya Debnath

This book was created by me as a handbook of duelling using information from all the lessons covered at Hogwarts in different subjects from the first year to the seventh year at Hogwarts along with my personal tips for duelling to guide others and me and help others and me in my duelling practice and in my duels in the wizarding world. You will not find the rules of engagement in this book, because I believe you already know it, but you will find a lot of basic and advanced information about and for duelling, that will be helpful and useful to you and me.

Duelling Spells- Jinxes- The Avifors Jinx

Chapter 10

Effect: - Converts certain objects or creatures into birds in a burst of electric blue light. This is actually an inanimate/animate to animate  transformation, that is a transfiguration spell, but I told you you could think out of the box for duelling.

Spell Type: - Offensive or Defensive(think defense against magical creatures).

Spell Block: -

Incantation- Avifors, pronounced as AH-vih-fors.

Wand Movement- Sidewise figure eight.

Willpower- Medium to High.

Concentration- Medium, focus on the image of the bird, how it should move and what you want it to do for you.

Please note that this spell has an interesting variation, Ducklifors, which turns the target into a duck. The spell type is same. The incantation is Ducklifors, pronounced as DUCK-leh-fors, the wand movement is a downward slash, the willpower required is high, the concentration required is high, focus on both the physical and mental changes that need to occur.

Please note that yet another interesting variation of this spell is Pullus, which turns the target into a chicken. The incantation is Pullus pronounced as PULL- us and the wand movement is to point wand at target. The remaining spell components are the same. A similar spell Vermiculus with the incantation Vermiculus pronounced as Vur-MICK-yoo-luhs and the remaining spell components being the same  turns the target into a worm.

Please note that this spell is not to be confused with Avis, the Bird-Conjuring Charm.
