Rules and Regulations

Chapter 8

There are many rules and regulations in any library including the Hogwarts Library. Most of them are common to most libraries including the Hogwarts Library and include maintaining decorum and taking care of the books while reading and borrowing them from the library and treating the books with respect and returning borrowed books on time. One unspoken rule of almost any library is to maintain silence so as to allow the other readers including yourself focus on your reading and also to show our respect for knowledge, which is available as profound and abundant in a library.

These rules having being taken care of by the inherent magic and working processes of the current Hogwarts Library, the current Hogwarts Library still has rules and regulations that you need to follow, especially, when writing a book and publishing it in the Hogwarts Library. There are many such rules, and many regulations as well, which, as I have repeatedly mentioned, are to be found in the book "The Guide to the HiH Library" written and published by Headmistress Oshiro in the current Hogwarts Library. Some of the rules and regulations are mentioned below:-

1) No plagiarism- This is probably the most important rule of the current Hogwarts Library. When writing and publishing a book in the current Hogwarts Library, the author must take care to never add any plagiarised content from anywhere in their book. Copying and pasting information from any other books published in the current Hogwarts Library, or from the lessons taught in class, or from anywhere else in the world is counted as and considered to be plagiarism and is a punishable offence. On committing this offence, the author of the book may face consequences such as copyright issues and the book may be banned from the current Hogwarts Library, and in some cases, be automatically deleted from the current Hogwarts Library by the Hogwarts authorities. You may feel like no one will know but no matter where you plagiarize from, someone or the other will know, and if no one knows, the Hogwarts authorities keep meticulous records of the books in the current Hogwarts Library and check their content regularly and will catch you one day or the other and punish you accordingly. You can however use an image from a public website, with proper credits to the website for the image, or copy text from other sources, provided you include the text in quotation marks, and give proper credits to the website or source you took the text from. This rule applies to the book's title, book description, the names of the chapters, the book's cover photo and the name of the author as well.

2)No Restricted Content- Content that is deemed inappropriate for younger age kids in general or can be counted as adult or A rated content must either go to the Restricted section of the library with Headmistress Oshiro's permission or not be published at all. The readers of the Hogwarts Library are mostly young Hogwarts students and content that would be generally deemed inappropriate for them must not be included. Any books with very dark magic or dark sentiments that may directly or indirectly cause mental or psychological harm to readers of any age, are also forbidden, or in case they can be considered mild, must go through the same restrictions, rules and regulations. This rule includes the illustrations, book cover, book title, book description, anything inside the book and the name of the author as well.

3) Give Appropriate Credits- The book must give appropriate credits to any website, source or people, the book gathered information from, otherwise, the material may be treated the same way as plagiarised content.

4) No disrespectful, racist or sexist content, show appropriate respect towards everyone and everything- The book must contain content that is respectful towards everyone and everything. The book must not in any way harm the sentiments or pride of anyone or anything and must not show or encourage discrimination against any race, group or sex or any country or organization. The book must be respectful towards anyone or anything. On breaking this rule, the book may be banned from the current Hogwarts Library and may be autodeleted from the current Hogwarts Library.

5) Write all books in English- No other language, except English, is acceptable as a medium of writing or publishing books in the current Hogwarts Library.

On repeatedly breaking any of the above rules, the author in concern may be permanently banned from using the current Hogwarts Library and from Hogwarts as well.

All books in the current Hogwarts Library are in English and there is no option for reading them in any other language or using any other language to write books or publish books in the current Hogwarts Library.
