The Wizarding Gourmet - Honeydukes

Chapter 27

-The Wizarding Gourmet-

This Hogsmeade weekend, it was warm and sunny outside, shocking for mid-February. I shed my huge robes this week, and I'm just wearing a sweater and jeans, letting the sunshine wash over my face. I was with Lilia, Evelyn, Helen, and Grace this afternoon, and the five of us were doing what we always do- singing songs, laughing, and shoving each other. Evelyn had (thankfully) neglected to tell Bob about our outing, and there was guaranteed to be a little less chaos than usual this time.
We were headed for Honeyduke's, though it wasn't a restaurant. They sell a lot of food, and I've never been for more than five minutes without Evelyn getting us kicked out, so I figured I'd review them.

The atmosphere of the shop is always sunny and colorful, but it was especially nice today. It was so bright inside, with all of the windows letting in golden, buttery light. The wooden floors were clean-swept and rough, crowded with displays of candies. The shop was nearly empty, just the owners and a few other solitary students milling around and checking the price tags on Acid Pops.
I have an account at the store, so I went right over and popped a Sugar Mouse into my mouth. I heard my teeth squeaking, which always makes me giggle, every single time. Grace cracked a grin and tried one too, and her tiny yelp as she felt the strange squeaking sensation made me collapse in giggles.

Evelyn took a whole handful of Pepper Imps and dropped them into her mouth. Her face turned scarlet, and when she exhaled, a gust of fire floated lazily into the air. I (call me a wimp, go ahead) screamed and jumped back, bumping into Helen, which sent an avalanche of Firecracker Chocolates crashing to the floor.

Such an explosion was never heard before in the history of a candy store. Brilliant pops of radiant color spewed from every direction, golden and neon pink and bluebell and buttercup and the orange of monarch wings.

We slapped a few Galleons on the counter and ran out, sparks showering behind us. Lilia collapsed in the grass laughing hysterically, and Evelyn brandished a packet of Sugar Quills, her favourite. On the whole it was an enjoyable visit and I strongly recommend you to visit!
