Serial Story #1 - Darkness

Chapter 20

Darkness

Written by Jamie Pevensie

Myka has been raised by the Weasley family her entire life. She has never known anything different - she doesn't believe what Fred and George, her older brothers, say about her being adopted. Sure, she looks completely different than they do. So what? They're her family...right? But when enrolls at Hogwarts, she is sorted into Slytherin. Intrigued, she wants to know more but is scared to venture into the unknown. Until, for a family project in History of Magic, she starts to write about Bill, Charlie, Percy, Fred, George, Ron, and her little sister Ginny, but it just doesn't feel right. Instead, she goes on a quest to discover who she is, where she comes from, and why someone has left a note telling her that she has the power to save the entire wizarding world - or destroy it.

Chapter Four.

Myka stirred her potion curiously, observing its sickly sweet odor and praying that she wouldn't spill any of the acidic green liquid onto her robes- her mother couldn't afford a new pair. She didn't, however, notice that a small droplet had landed on her boot, though she hadn't touched the cauldron.
A second droplet followed by a third each landed on the knees of her jeans, and she whirled to see none other than Draco Malfoy, her new enemy, using his wand to flick droplets of green at her from out of his cauldron. Already, there was a smoking hole in her boot, and her jeans were feeling uncomfortably hot.

"Yes?" Myka hissed in a voice to freeze fire.

He grinned maliciously at her and gestured to his potion, laughing.

"This potion can eat through skin if you leave it, you know."

"I was hoping some would land on your face and we wouldn't have to look at you anymore."

There was a loud crash, and an explosion of dust. When the dust cleared, Myka was still in her seat. Malfoy's desk had been flipped entirely over and cracked in two. His cauldron was teetering precariously, and the boy himself had been pressed up against the dungeon wall.

Myka grinned softly to herself and exhaled. As her breath poured out, the desk righted itself, and the cauldron settled nicely onto its stand. Malfoy was released from the wall, and he crumpled to the ground, breathing hard. Everyone stared at Myka, who looked down at her feet. Why did they think it was her fault? It was, but what right did that give them to stare at her like she was a common zoo animal?

"Miss Weasley, I'd like to speak to you after class," said Professor Snape in his threatening voice.

After class, she approached his desk. The room was empty. "You wanted to see me, sir?"

"Yes." Snape straightened the papers on his desk. "Miss Weasley, are you aware of what you just did?"

"A bit, yes."

"You are dangerous when angered. You must be careful."

Myka sat up straighter. "No, I'm not, sir. I'm a Weasley, we aren't angered easily."

He smirked at her. "Well, perhaps you aren't a Weasley, then. Be wary. You are dismissed."

As Myka left, she saw a painfully familiar blond head crouching behind a desk, leering at her.
