Mens Wizarding World Fashion

Chapter 21

-Mens Wizarding World Fashion-

Winter Fashions in the Wizarding World:

The
dungeon master’s look still lingers this January, but now a heavier and more
serious take has been made on it; using darker colours, thick wools and fur and
dark metal pins and buttons. These not only keep out the cold but are also very
manly outfits and are most suited to those with dark and fair complexions and
those with dark hair. It gives a more severe but ultimately manly and durable
look.

Hairstyles:

As
said above, the most fashionable hair colours at the moments are dark shades of
brown and auburn that suit the style. The cuts and facial hair has also changed
– thick stubble is now popular and suits the longer, bushier hairstyles that
are in at the moment. All of these combat the adventurous and survival look.

Shoes:

Long
boots suitable for braving the wet conditions of our winter are popular, also
set in dark colours and not differing much from last month’s styles with dark
metal clasps and plain, unadorned features.

Cloaks:

As said above, heavy cloth cloaks are very popular at the moment, another factor contributing to the survival look. They are typically in dark colours with lighter and softer cloth or fur linings. Yes, furs are still in, though generally they are styled to be coarser and in darker shades, either lining boats and garments or cresting the neck of cloaks to keep the wearer’s neck and shoulders warm. However the shoulder fur fashion is said to weigh down that area a little and are usually donned for the actual adventuring or hiking.

What the Ladies like:

When asked in a survey on the new Mens look, witch expressed their opinions very positively for the new look. Here are a few of the questions asked, and one answer from a different witch each time. (For security reasons they are kept anonymous)

Q & As:

What is your opinion on the new look for wizards?

Answer: ‘I think it makes them look very buff and handsome. I really like the more medieval look that is in and it makes wizards look more manly and strong as well.’

Do you like the new hairstyles?

Answer: ‘Yes! I have always detested beards, but the thicker stubble is very flattering and suits the hairstyles and outfits of the look.’

What do you think of the dark metals used in the outfits and footwear?

Answer: It adds to the look and really gives it a medieval feel, which I like. However, I only really like the metal on boots and belts, as I do not like the brooches and pins.

Do you think the look is too old-fashioned?

Answer: 'Not at all – in fact I prefer it to the modern robes and Muggle clothes worn today. This seems more sensible yet really handsome and masculine at the same time. I love my boyfriend in the fashionable wear.'

Do you like the severity and dark colours of the outfits?

Answer: 'Yes – I think it adds to the look completely, though I’d like the linings of the cloaks to be dark as well.'
