Chapter 18

-COMPETITION-

Last Issue’s Blurb-Writing competition is over and the
winning application has been displayed below! Now, for this issue the challenge
is to write a prologue of any length and for any sort of book. It need not be
more than a paragraph - there are no length restrictions.

The winning submission will be rated on ideas, simple
quality and temptation (how much it makes the reader wants to read on).

-Winner of
Previous Competition-

Congratulations to Grace Waterson, the winner of the blurb-wring competition! Grace won for her teasing and captivating concepts and words as well as cliff hangers and writing style:

A cliff edge.

One girl stands,
her toes hovering over the abyss below, her heels planted firmly on the ground.

It would only take
the smallest of leans.

Kaitlyn Anderson
is prepared to take her life. She's counted down the days until this one;
crossed off the numbers in red marker on her calendar. And now the day has
come. March 18th. The day before her eighteenth birthday - Kaitlyn's always
been one for sick jokes.

But in the
distance, a boy is getting steadily closer. A boy whom she hasn't seen in eight
years. Kaitlyn doesn't see him - she's too focused on her goal.

Will he get there in time to save her;
to make her see that there are still things left for her to live for? Or will
he be forced to watch his childhood best friend die before his eyes before he
got the chance?

Please note that there was no bias in this. I had no idea it was Grace (she didn't leave a username) until she told me.
