Chapter Two; the New Mayor

Katherine looked at the people all around her. She was going to be mayor, it almost seemed unreal. She looked at the people sitting in their chairs waiting for one of the other founding members to prepare the ceremony for her.

She was going to be mayor. As she sat on her chair and looked at her friends the other founding members kids. She glanced at Ken who was smiling at her. He was such a good guy helping always. “Thank you Ken.” Katherine whispered.

She watched as her Ken’s mother stood on the stage and looked at Katherine. “Katherine Edwards please stand.”

Katherine did as she was told and stood on her feet looking at Ken’s mother. “As Mrs. Henderson has passed we now put in place the new mayor of Gold Falls.”

With that they grabbed a badge and held it up to show everyone and of Gold Falls was placed on the jacket of her purple skirt and jacket set. “Congratulations Katherine Edwards on being mayor.” She said smiling.

With that Katherine smiled at everyone. She wasn’t happy to be mayor and if anyone found out about her being a Magi she would freak out and who knows what would happen next. She was worried so much about everything.

How was she meant to take care of other people when she was having a hard time taking care of herself?

She knew today marked the day of her growing up so Ken and her were going to go house shopping. Her dad was going to lend her some money. She knew it seemed ridiculous for a high school student to be mayor and having her own house but this what was happening in a small town called Gold Falls.

Ken looked at her gently as she sat down on her chair and watched as people went home and worked on their stuff. The system for Gold Falls was strange for people to understand but they rarely got tourists or new people moving in.

No one ever left Gold Falls. But Kathy had always wanted to.

Now she was mayor.
