And They Will Rise Again

Chapter 1 ~ Trespassing

 He never meant to...But the attraction of the cute little scottish station that still ran steam trains was a pretty sight, plus there was a herd of deer running through there, and he needed to eat something.

Twenty-one, the youngest Hogwarts gamekeeper ever known, He was tall and strong with dark blonde hair and brown eyes, the hair cut in a long fringe that he was always having to flick out of his eyes. It was summer, another month till school started again, and on the warm summer days trespassing became a hobby of his, he just loved the village near the borders of the forbidden forest, little brick houses clustered around the nineteenth-century station. They set him at ease.

He was lying on his stomach hanging over a small drop into the valley that was the setting for the little town, watching for deer and local muggle landowners who would aim a shot at him if they ever knew he was there. For half an hour he remained basking in the July sun and gazing at the scene below him, before a rustle behind him opened his eyes and caused him to slowly rise, gun in hand. Sure enough, the peaceful herd of deer were now grazing a little distance from him. Slowly he crept over to hide behind a fallen tree, aiming his gun at a small doe grazing in the corner...

There was a short crack and the doe fell, but he hadn't fired his gun. A muggle was on his way towards the dead creature, and Rolf knew he couldn't risk it a second longer.

''Oi!'' The muggle yelled as Rolf leapt over the log he'd been hidden behind and sprinted through the trees. Another shot was fired, this time at him, but he was long gone. He could hear the muggle panting as he ran after him, but Rolf reached the forbidden forest in a matter of seconds, whisking himself into the trees where he knew he was safe. The muggle, of course, didn't follow him because of the enchantments cast upon the forest, he simply turned away, cursing under his breath, and went back to the deer. Rolf sighed with relief and turned his head to look down. Then it was his turn to swear.
