American State Quidditch Match - Arizona Vs. California

Chapter 6

-American State Quidditch Match - Arizona vs. California-

Sadly this week’s match saw Arizona out of the game as they lost 90-300 to California. They could not be blamed; California was on top form this time around and defeated Arizona after a meagre 50 minutes of flawless playing.

It was mainly the new Californian Keeper Aaron Montgomery who kept the match interesting and won the game for his team, showing off a variety of moves as he blocked many scoring attempts from Arizona’s Chasers with style and confidence. Arizona Chaser Luna Hawk was particularly put off by him and as a result her game wasn’t as good as usual. On the other hand, her brother and fellow Chaser Ned Hawk was continuously laughing throughout the game at Montgomery’s keeping antics, which were accompanied by comic expressions and laughable positions as he deflected the quaffle.

With two chasers slightly distracted, most goal scoring was done by the third Arizona Chaser Robert Flay, who scored fifty out of their ninety points.

After their poor show against Montana, previous Arizona beaters Siobhan Meiker and Charlie Dane were removed from the team for this match, but their replacements weren’t exactly mind blowing. Beaters Roger Walters and Ewan Kingston used method playing and didn’t seem enthusiastic, protecting their team perfectly but in a very robotic fashion and barely sending any bludgers towards the opposing team. Their rival beaters Sophie Tamzin and Sammuel Jupp, after having been out in their last match against Kansas due to illness, returned to wow the fans and smash the rival team. Assessing the weaknesses of Walters and Kingston, they mainly left their players, as their two rivals weren’t attacking, and instead concentrated on batting as many bludgers as possible towards the Arizona team; hitting keeper Marco Finali and Seeker and Captain Michelle Caine as she hovered above watching for the snitch.

California’s seeker Edmund Mere caught the snitch only fifty minutes into the game, adding 150 to the points that the skilful Californian chasers Leona Ronson, Lewis Ryder and Cody Miles had scored to give California a total of 300 points. The final score being a harsh 90-300points (as said above), California won a sweet victory.

Next month the two top state teams, Washington D.C. and Ohio, will be playing head-to-head for a top place in the state leader board. Read after Christmas to see who came out on top!
