-LITERACY COMPETITIONS-

It was a recent idea from creator Lilia Le Fay (Pendragon) to begin a series of simply creative-writing competitions for the students of Hogwarts for fun and interest of others. We all like a good competition, and anyone can enter.

Each issue of this magazine will feature a link to a form for the next creative writing challenge and the winner of the previous challenge in this section. These ‘challenges’ will be simple things; i.e. prologue writing competitions and such, not extensive stories.

The winner will be decided by taking into account the level of diversity of their piece, the setting and the ideas, among other things. As long as the writing makes sense, it stands a chance. There is the possibility of ties, and if there were quite a few winning pieces then there will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd winners.

At the end of the series of competitions (when we run out of ideas for challenges), a book in the Hogwarts Library will be created containing all winning pieces and showcasing the work of Hogwarts students. It will be nice for Professors and Students alike to see what you can do in that department.

So please, enter! You don’t have to be a professional writer; you just need to make an effort. We need as many applications as we get otherwise we’ll have to take the section down, therefore closing a great opportunity for fun. It won’t take you a few minutes – find your competitive side!

THIS ISSUE’S CHALLENGE:

The writing competition for this issue is very simple and easy, any student, no matter what level of writing skill they possess, can succeed. The challenge if to create two characters for a book themed on anything you choose – the theme does not have to mentioned, however, nor a book be written (obviously). The form will ask what your two created characters (one male, one female) look like, what their character involves and other info. The winner will be rated in diversity of the character, creativity and depth.
