LITERACY SECTION

Hello and welcome to the literacy section of this magazine! The components of this section are all themed around writing and The Hogwarts Library, from advice to budding authors to some extensive serial stories. These serial stories are the creations of their presented writers and though contain some J.K.Rowling characters and obviously, concepts (the wizarding world), we own nothing.

This section includes:

1.Writer's Advice (two discussed tips from two of our writers)

2.Book Reviews (HiH fan fiction and Muggle non-fiction)

3.Serial Story #1 – Running Free

4.Serial Story #2 – Seventh Heaven

5.Serial Story #3 – Small Town, Huge Story

6.Competition*

Writers for this section:

Lilia Le Fay

Maria Fell

Misty Swanson

Luna Silverprint

*You may be wondering what the ‘Competition Section’ features, as it has not been previously mentioned. You see, there has been an idea from the team for the students of Hogwarts to collaborate on a selection of writings that show as examples of writing quality and just for a bit of fun. Each issue a link to a form for a differently themed literacy competition, i.e. this Issue’s competition is for the subject of character writing – for more info look at the section itself. The section will also announce and present the winner of last week’s competition, although this week there is none as it is the first issue.

In the end, when the series of competitions draws to a close, the winning submissions of all challenges will be presented in a book in the Hogwarts Library. To help us get enough applications, please give it a go – you don’t have to be an advanced author to apply.
