The Potion-Maker'S Daughter Book 2

Chloe is back for her second year at Hogwarts, but this time she's bringing another secret with her. Along with her school books (who knew Standard Books of Spells Grade 2 was so heavy?), her wand, and a particular necklace, her mind is swirling with something big. Her father told her about it- but she can't tell anyone, as it's a secret. Along with all that, Chloe has to deal with third-year Potions, boys, and- ugh- puberty. Will everyone's favorite heroine prevail, or will she lose herself with her secrets? And yes, there are more secrets. Chapter 6

Chloe was in Transfiguration class later that morning, trying to turn water into wine. With a flick of her wand and a muttering of a spell, dark liquid would fill her glass- but it was always the wrong dark liquid. Chocolate milk, grape juice, even black coffee, which nearly fractured the glass. She closed her eyes and focused, giving it one last try before the bell rang.

"Aquam vinum," she said, and flicked her wand. The tip began to glow a dark red, and suddenly a fountain of rich red liquid began to fill the glass and tint the edges burgundy.

"Excellent," said Professor McGonnagall, who had been standing over her for at least half an hour and coaching her through the spell. There was a sudden small pop, and a house-elf appeared in front of Chloe.

"Miss Chloe Snape, message for you," it squeaked. "Mister Malfoy is in the Hospital Wing, he wanted Madame Pomfrey to get you."

Chloe leaped up and looked to Professor McGonnagall. "May I please go visit him, Professor? He is one of my best friends."

Without waiting for an answer, she raced out of the room, her heavy boots thumping on the floor.

In the Hospital Wing, Malfoy was lying in a bed with a sling over his arm. Chloe ran to the side of the bed and placed a hand on his arm. "Are you alright, Draco?"

He mustered a weak smile. "Yes, yes, I'm not dying. Got attacked by a Hippogryph at Care of Magical Creatures lessons. Nearly tore my arm off."

Chloe smiled back at him. "You're going to be alright. I wouldn't be surprised if you were out by supper. Madame Pomfrey is an excellent healer."

"She is, I suppose," he conceded. "Don't wait for me, and don't worry."

Chloe beamed and squeezed his hand before running off to lunch.
