They made their way down to the kitchens in silence. Draco walked slightly behind Hermione so that he could admire her without it being too obvious. When they got to the portrait of the fruit bowl, Hermione tickled the pear and they went in. Th kitchen was empty. 'Where are all the elves?' Draco asked looking around. 'Thy must have gone to be after working so hard on the feast.' Hermione said. She had been in the kitchens enough that she knew where everything was. She walked over to put some water on the fire and then went back to one of the cupboards to get the hot chocolate powder and sugar. She went to the fridge and got out the whipped cream and got some mini marshmallows from the cupboard beside the fridge. Draco got 2 mugs out of the cupboard above the sink. They made the hot chocolate and went and sat at one of the tables. They drank their hot chocolate and Draco thought that it would be better if they had some biscuits so he summoned some custard creams. Hermione made sure that Fred and George had not hidden any of their canary creams in with them, which they had. When Draco asked what they were she said. 'They are canary creams they turn you into a canary temporarily, Neville fell for it every time.' she laughed as she remembered back to when Neville was turning into a canary constantly. 'Who made them?' Draco asked looking at her smiling face. He knew he shouldn't have asked that question because her smile dropped and he could see tears threatening to pour out of her eyes. 'I'm sorry. I just wondered.' he said. 'It's fine.' she closed her eyes for a few seconds swallowed and said 'It was Fred and George. This was one of their favorite creations.' she had a small smile as she thought of red, she didn't even notice the tears rolling down her cheeks. But Draco did.  He stood up, wiped one of the tears away. This made Hermione cry even more she didn't know why but he made her feel safe, comfortable even. He pulled her waist towards him and engulfed her in a warm hug. She loved being so close to him, he was so warm and he smelled so good. He smelled of apple and aftershave, and amazing mix. She mentally slapped herself she shouldn't be thinking about him that way. She didn't pull away though instead the sat there for about 20 minutes hugging in silence. Draco could smell her hair she smelled like strawberries and vanilla, an amazing mix. Why was he thinking about her that way, he knew that he shouldn't but he couldn't help her.

After the long period of silence, Hermione broke away wiped her eyes and looked at Draco. 'Thank you Draco, I really needed that.' she said fixing her hair and tidying up after them. 'No problem Hermione.' he answered. 'So are we on a first name basis now she said giggling. He loved it when she giggled it was so cute. 'Looks like it.' he said, this made her smile he loved that he could make her smile like that. It made him smile too, he couldn't help it. 'We should head back to the common room.' she said turning towards the portrait hole. Draco grabbed her wrist, she gasped and stopped where she was she felt what was like electricity shooting up her arm from where Draco had touched her. 'Are you alright now?' he asked her concerned and still holding her wrist, not tight though. 'I'm fine thank you. I just needed to get it out. I've been holing it in. I felt like I had to hold it in for Ron, Ginny and the rest of the Weasleys. They were all distraught after the war.' she said, she felt a lump form in her throat  she swallowed hard, she wouldn't cry again. 'I'm sorry Hermione, what happened?' he asked he didn't want to push her though. 'You don't have to tell me.' he said looking into her deep chocolate brown eyes. 'It's fine. Well during the battle of Hogwarts, did you see that explosion?' she asked her voice shaking slightly. 'Yeah.' he answered. 'Well we, myself, Harry, Ron, Fred, George and Percy were standing beside the wall that exploded.' she took a deep breath. 'The debris came and hit us all. It got Fred the worst though. It hit him in the temple and damaged his brain. He died instantly' she said tears rolling down her face as she remembered the incident. Draco didn't know what to say, He knew that the war was partly his fault.

'I'm so sorry Hermione. If I hadn't ..' Hermione cut him off 'No! Don't finish that sentence, none of this was your fault. I know you did some really bad things but you were forced to do those things Voldemort would have killed you. Even if you hadn't let the death eaters into the castle in our 6th year, they would have found another way in.' Hermione said, she wasn't crying anymore she was all out of tears. 'But I still did it I should have just let him kill me.' he sighed. 'No you should not. Dumbledore was very ill that year, he only had a few months until the potion stopped working. You remember that he had a black hand right?' she asked. he nodded 'well he had been cursed. He wore a ring that was one of Voldemorts horcruxes. Snape was giving Dumbledore a potion but it wouldn't work for long, he only had about a year to live. Dumbledore knew that Voldemort had given you the task of killing him and he knew that you didn't want to. That's why he told Snape that he must be the one to kill him. So that you you wouldn't have his death on your conscience.' she said 'But I do, I'm the one that disarmed him.' he started 'Didn't you hear anything I've just said? Dumbledore was dying, he was ready to go.' she told him. 'How do you know all of this?' he asked. 'Harry told me. When Voldemort set that snake on Snape, it didn't kill him instantly. We were below them. When Voldemort disapparated with the snake we went into the room. Snape gave Harry some of his memories and Harry took them to the pensieve in Dumbledores office where he found out the truth. Snape was the one that told Voldemort about the prophecy, and that his patronus was a doe for Harrys mother. Snape was in love with Lilly Potter. He was bullied by James when they were at school, which is why Snape hated Harry. Harry looks like his father, and acts a bit like him too.' Hermione said. 'That kind of makes sense. But what I don't understand is why you are telling me all of this.' he admitted. 'Well I thought that you deserved to know, none of this was your fault you only did what you had to in order to survive. Anyone else would have done the same thing. Now are you coming or not?' she said and with that she left. Draco followed after her.
