Hermione P.O.V

They had all got ready the fastest the ever had in their lives and were in Diagon Alley after 35 minutes of rushing about the burrow. They spent a few hours in Diagon Alley, they got everything that they needed for school and some things that they didn't. The went into Georges shop where above the door was a large plaque with Freds name and face it. It read:

In memory of Fred Weasley, beloved brother, twin, friend, son, family and jokester. You will be missed.

Everybody stopped to read this, nobody spoke for several minutes, they all just stopped to read it and think about Fred. The burrow hasn't been the same without Fred. George tries to put on a brave face and act like normal but he's not the same and Hermione didn't think he ever would be, he lost not only a twin but a best friend, his other half. There was no way George would ever fully get over that. The silence was broken by none other than George coming out and picking up his dear sister. 'Put me down George I'm not a baby.' she squealed laughing as George spun her around. 'Don't I know it Gin.' George said laughing and putting her down again. She went back to holding Harrys hand again. They spent half an hour with George who promised that he would come home for dinner tonight.

They all got back to the burrow, put all of their things upstairs, Hermione grabs a book and the rest of the grabbed their brooms. Hermione never liked flying she hates heights always has, every time she sits on a broom she always ends up falling. Not that this stopped anyone trying to get her to fly. Harry and Ron had attempted many ties throughout the summer but never succeeded. Ginny on the other hand had managed to get Hermione onto a broom but Hermione refused to kick off from the ground. They had finally given up and were letting Hermione do her own thing now.

They had been outside for 3 hours now and Hermione had finished her book. The others all came down and they were all heading back inside for dinner. Mrs Weasley was shuffling about the kitchen when they got inside. 'A little help would be nice, you know' she said whilst stirring a pot of soup with her wand. Hermione and Ginny went and got  the plates and bowls out and the boys got the cutlery. They were all setting the table when a large barn owl came swooping into the room and landed in front of Hermione. She untied the letter and gave the owl a treat and it flew away again. 'Who's it from Hermione?' Ginny asked walking towards her. 'It's from Hogwarts.' Hermione said tearing the letter open. 'What does it say?' Ginny asked.

Dear Miss Granger,

I am pleased to inform you that you have been awarded this years Head girl. You will be in charge of the prefects along with the Head boy. You will no longer be staying in Gryffindor tower you will have a shared common room with the head boy. I will show you to you common room after the welcome feast. I would like you to come to my compartment on the Hogwarts express and 1pm, then you will spend the rest of the journey in the heads compartment. I look forward to working with you and I will see you on September 1st.

'Congratulations Hermione ' Mrs Weasley said everyone nodded and gave her a hug. 'I have one question though, who's head boy. I thought you would have got it Harry.' Hermione said. 'McGonagall offered it to me last week but I said no, I just want a peaceful year at Hogwarts for once in my life.' Harry said. 'I understand but the why didn't Ron get it then?' Hermione asked she didn't know who else was even going back to school. 'McGonagall said in the letter to me that if I didn't want it to ask Ron, but he said he doesn't want that sort of pressure this year, I guess we all want a peaceful year.' Harry said. 'I guess so, but who could be head boy then?' Hermione asked. 'I guess you'll just have to wait til next week t find out.' Ginny answered. 'Dinners ready, so sit at the table please.' Mrs Weasley said to them all. They listened to her and did as she said.

Dinner was wonderful, they had a celebration for Hermione. Hermione didn't stop thinking about who would be head boy. Why wouldn't McGonagall have told her? 'It could be Neville' she told the others after dinner when thy were up in Rons room. 'What do you mean?' Ginny asked. 'Well we know he is gong back this year, and he was very brave during the war. What if he has been recognized for that. Maybe hes finally getting something back for all of the hard work he has put in over the years. I mean he has really improved.' Hermione said. Ron and Harry looked at each other. 'Hermione I don't think it will be Neville, I mean yeah that would be great but he's not the best wizard. He has improved and I'm not saying he's not got a chance but there are 3 other houses and there's Ginnys year so it might not even be a boy from our year.' Harry told her. 'Look I know that but I have a feeling it's someone w know. I just don't know who and why McGonagall hasn't told me.' Hermione said. 'Hermione we go back to school in 5 days so you don't have to wait long. McGonagall might not have found a head boy yet so that might be why she didn't mention in her letter.' Ginny said. 'Look Hermione Ginnys right, we will find out in a few days so just stop thinking about it. You are head girl and that's all that matters. Okay?' Ron asked. 'Okay. Thanks guys' she told her friends. She really does have the best friends. 'Do yous want to sleep in here tonight or will you be okay in Ginnys room?' Harry asked the girls. 'Hermione, what do you think?' Ginny asked with the look that told Hermione that if she said no she would be facing a strong bat bogey hex. 'Sure, thanks guys.' Hermione said trying not to laugh at the grin on Ginnys face.
