AUTHORS NOTE

I am so sorry that it has taken so long for me to update, I just haven't really been able to find the time. But I have now so I am going to try and write as many chapters as i can thank you all so much for your patience.

Hermione landed just outside the gates, it was freezing she hadn't really thought about what she was wearing. It was almost 2 in the morning. Hermione pushed the gates open, slipped through them and closed them again. Luckily Filch had forgotten to lock the front doors so Hermione went in, closed the doors behind her and began running to her common room. She knew that it would be empty because it was so late so Draco would be sleeping. She whispered the password, the portrait swung open and she ran in, the portrait swing closed behind her.

Once in the comfort of the common room Hermione stood with her back against the wall and slid down. Tears were streaming down her face and she couldn't stop them. She felt a hand on her shoulder, it pulled her up into a hug, Hermione did not know who it was but she didn't want to pull away, this hug felt good. Really good. She felt safe in their arms.

Hermione took a deep breath and puled away. She had stopped crying now. She looked up int the grey blue eyes of none other than Draco Malfoy. 'Thank you, I really needed that.' Hermione whispered not breaking eye contact.

'It's no problem honestly' Draco says quietly maintaining eye contact. Their hearts were racing but they did not know why. 'I thought you were away with the rest of the Gryffindors, what happened?' He was trying to sound as casual as he could, but he couldn't hide the concern he was feeling , why was he feeling like this?

'I was but I had to leave, Ronald just has to ruin everything. We were getting on fine, I thought we had got past the awkward stage of the break up, but then he has to just go and mouth off about ...' She cut herself short, she didn't want to admit to Draco that she had been defending him, she was fighting with her friends over Draco. What had gotten into her?

'About??' Draco asked, he had a feeling he already knew the answer but he had to make sure he was right. But Hermione remained silent. 'Was it about me?' he asked when she hadn't answered. Slowly she nodded her head. She had fell out with one of her best friends because she was defending him. He couldn't believe it.

'Hermione, you didn't have to defend me you know that right?' Draco asked her, although he wouldn't admit it, Draco kind of liked having someone stand up for him, and he especially liked it this time as it was Hermione.

'Yes, I don't like how he just assumes you're a bad guy because of your father I know how difficult it must be for you having to live with all these people like Ronald that just assume things about you when they don't even know you. I don't see how you have not gone insane yet this must be infuriating. And I'm not making it any better by highlighting it I'm sorry I overthink everything' Hermione says panting slightly from her rant.

'Yeah it does get quite overwhelming but I cant let it get to me because if I do then they have won. That is what tey want they want me to break down and go insane they want a reaction out of me. Well to their disappointment that aren't getting one out of me. They aren't worth my time and they are certainly not worth yours. Hermione, just forget about it none of this needs to be concerning you, you have a lot more important things to focus on this year so my problems are not your priority okay?' He ended the speech staring at her none of them had moved they just stood there.

After about 10 minutes of silence just staring ate one another Hermione finally shook her head slightly 'maybe you're right Draco, maybe they aren't worth my time all Ronald does is ruin things for me so why should I spend time on him?

'Look Hermione, I don't want you stressing out over this you have enough on your plate this year so stop!' And with that Draco walked away through the door to his bedroom and lay down on his bed.
