After the Wizarding War, Hermione and her friends return to Hogwarts for their final year of their education. Draco returns after being cleared of his previous records, trying to leave his past for once and for all behind him...Can he leave it that easily with so many people trying to drag him back in? Can he overcome the guilt of what he has played a part in?
Hermione and Draco slowly begin to notice the good in each other...Hermione is about to make the mistake of falling for a Slytherin while Draco makes the mistake of falling for a Gryffindor. Breaking the rules that still matter to some but have faded for others. Can these people forgive and forget?
A bond is slowly being formed through trust, love and faith between them. Some people still disapprove of this blossoming friendship/relationship.
With so many obstacles in their way, is this love story really meant for a happy ending? Or is it true that love can conquer anything in the end?..

Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, and Harry Potter all step onto the Hogwarts Express from Platform 9 3/4 to begin their journey back to Hogwarts for their seventh year. It has been three months since the Wizarding War. They hope that things would begin to feel normal this year but nothing will ever feel normal. Without Fred, Lupin, Sirius, and everyone who has died in the past few years, nothing will be the same. There will always be a gap in their lives. They were all still struggling from their losses, but they knew that their friends would've wanted them to continue their lives. They all lost someone during the war...

Hermione, Ron, and Harry walk down the train hall to find a empty compartment. When they do, they take their seats. Draco is sitting in the compartment at the end of the train, staring out the window. The afternoon sun is shining through, reflecting on his blonde hair. He doesn't know how to feel about coming back to Hogwarts, knowing he played a part in the destruction of it. He had played a part in everyone's death. He knows that he didn't have a choice with his family, Voldemort and his followers demanding such things out of him. Draco knows Voldemort would have murdered him cold-blooded if he didn't take his side. But he still had the choice to refuse and take the right side...

The sun is setting outside. The sky is full of orange, pink vibrant colors over the hill sides. A few hours have passed since they left the station. Hermione can hear the evening trolley getting near. She stands up with some sickles to buy a couple of cauldron cakes. Draco is waiting to buy something from the trolley too. They share a quick glance and Hermione gives him a small smile while getting her cakes from the jolly, old lady who runs the trolley. She knows he must be going through a lot. Yeah, he played a part but a lot of people did what they did out of fear during the war. And she is sure he did it out of fear also. He had his family and Voldemort forcing him to do what they wanted. It was probably the way he was raised. He was probably around that kind of stuff his whole life. He was raised with parents who were death eaters and hated blood-traitors and non-pure bloods. Being around it daily must effect you in some way. Hermione knows what he did was wrong but she understands his situation.

Draco looks at her again before briskly walking away. Hermione enters her compartment. She hands Harry and Ron each a cauldron cake. They happily take them. She pulls out her copy of Defense Against The Dark Arts: Volume Seven and begins to read it. She munchies through her cauldron cake which has a hint of cinnamon in it. Ron and Harry discuss whether or not there will be a Quidditch team this year and if things will be the same as they were for most of the ride. Hermione puts her book to the side when she knows there is only about twenty minutes left to the ride and grabs her school robes. She heads out of the compartment to the changing room at the back of the train.

All of the sudden, she slams right into someone. "Ouch," Hermione says while grabbing her head and holding her robes in one arm. She almost drops them on the floor.

"I'm sorry!" Draco looks at who he bumped into. "I wasn't paying attention to where I was going." He takes a small step back from her since he is within a couple of inches of her body. He examines her quickly. Her curly hair is down. She is wearing a pair of blue jeans and a comfy-looking sweater. He can smell her sweet perfume. It smells of lavender.

"Um..it's alright. I wasn't looking either.." She says apologetically and tries to side step him but he does it at the same time. He puts his hands gently on her shoulders and switches places with her since the guys changing room is in the front of the train. Hermione surprisingly doesn't shake his hands off. He smells of men's cologne. It is an amazing scent. She shivers slightly. He gives her a smirk and walks away while she stares at him. He is wearing a pair of black pants and a white button up shirt. His blonde hair is pushed back. He strides away, holding his Slytherin robes in his arm. She shakes her head and goes to change. She changes quickly into her robes and walks back to her compartment. She closes the door a little too hard.

"She looks a bit flustered, doesn't she, Harry?" Ron says after noticing Hermione's cheeks are flushed. Hermione runs her fingers through her smooth hair quickly.

"She does," replies Harry. Hermione shakes her head, smiling.

"I am not flustered, thank you very much, Ronald" she says, in a matter of fact tone. She and Ronald had dated for awhile over the Summer but they just didn't work out really. They decided what ever happens, happens. They had been friends for so long that the break up wasn't really awkward between them. They knew that a break up could never ruin seven years of friendship.

Draco is walking back to his compartment. He glances at Hermione, Harry, and Ronald's compartment. They are conversing with each other. He would love some company, but to be honest he's accustomed to being alone now. He spends most of his time reading anyway. That was kind of his way to escape reality. He can just lose himself in a book. He enters his compartment and shuts the door.

Ten minutes later, the train is slowing down and comes to a complete stop. They all get out of their seats and find their way to the exits. It is dark out and the stars are out. They can hear Hagrid's booming voice down the platform. "Firs' years! Firs' years this way! Come on 'ow!" Hermione, Harry, and Ron wave over the crowd to him. Hagrid quickly waves back and the lantern light he is holding swings a bit in his hand. "I'll see yeh three up at the castle!" Hagrid heads to the lake with the first years. It is tradition for first years to cross by boat to the castle.

The trio (Harry, Hermione, and Ron) go to find a carriage. They step in the first empty one they find and head up to the castle. "Are you guys ready for this year?" asks Hermione. Harry and Ronald shrug. "Eh," they say in union. It takes about ten minutes for the carriage to halt in front of the huge, fantastic castle that has been repaired and is back to the condition it was in before the Wizarding War. They step out of the carriage and walk up to the steps to Hogwarts. They enter the castle and head to the Great Hall for the feast and take their places at their house tables.

The sorting hat and chair is sitting at the front of the Great Hall. The ceiling is bewitched like any other year with sparkling candles floating near the ceiling. The House flags are waving from the ceiling too. A few minutes pass before the first years begin marching through with their faces full of wonder, trying to take in their surroundings.
