Chapter 3 ~ Maurelle.

''Well, she's still not woken up. D'you think something's seriously wrong with her?'' Rolf bent down over the girl before withdrawing worriedly. Karil looked the girl up and down before feeling her pulse.

''Hard to tell. Don't think she's in a coma though.'' He turned back to his brother. ''But what should we do if she does wake up?''

Feeling slightly better that Karil was now also taking responsibility for the girl, Rolf shrugged. ''We'll just have to hear her story first.'' He glanced at her before striding over to the stove. ''We'll just have to wait. You want some tea?'' Karil nodded his head and sat down at the rough wooden table whilst his brother clattered about, filling the kettle and assembling mugs. Karil stared at the girl, eyes flickering over her features. She reminded him of someone. An echo in the back  of his mind.

His silent thoughts were interrupted by a loud smash as Rolf dropped yet another mug. Karil was not the only one who jumped, the wide grey eyes of the girl flashed open as she sat up with a start.

She stared at Karil and Rolf, who were equally staring back. Rolf, still holding the cracked piece of mug, was the first to stop gaping. Flustered, he dumped the shards of china into the sink and made his way over to the girl.

''Erm, hello.'' He began nervously. She kept on staring, and with a cough, he went on; ''I am Rolf Scamander, and this is my brother Karil.'' He gestured to the quiet figure sat upon the chair. ''I, umm, found you in the forest, you were unconcious and-''

''This is Hogwarts.'' She said in her quiet Irish lilt, lifting her large eyes to gaze up at Rolf. ''And you found me in the forbidden forest.''

Rolf turned to his brother, who was equally surprised. Karil, usually not one for speaking to strangers, took pity on the silent Rolf and spoke to the girl.

''How did you know that?''

She turned to rest her compelling eyes upon him, earning a slight blush from him as she ran her eyes down his scar. ''I am a sorceress, I can tell what has happened and what will happen.''

Rolf stepped forward once more. ''Ah, so you are a witch. I thought so. What's your name?''

''I am Maurelle. Maurelle Pendragon, though I prefer Maurelle Le Fay, my Mother's changed surname.''

Shivers ran down Karil's spine. ''Le Fay? Then are you related to-''

''My Mother was Morgan Le Fay.'' She answered his question without letting him finish.

Rolf laughed. ''Morgan Le Fay lived centuries ago. I'm afraid you must be a bit woozy in the head.''

She scowled at him. ''And I live centuries ago. I have been sent here to avenge her death. I presume this is the 21st century?''

Rolf slapped his knee. ''You think we were born yesterday! You can't try and pull that trick on us!'' His round face was red with laughter.

Her face was also blushing pink, and with a flash of amber in her eyes, Rolf was thrown off his chair and hit the wall of the hut. Karil, after a bewildered glance at her, rushed over to see if his brother was alright. Rolf seemed ok, rubbing his head, and rising shakily. He turned to the girl, now holding out his wand in case further trouble arose.

''How did you do that?''

She threw back her head. ''You and your wooden sticks. I cast real magic. Magic before the time we magical folk relied on wands.''

Rolf shifted uneasily and turned to his brother, who nodded. They needed to talk.

''Give us a moment, will you?'' She stared at him, but Rolf took the reaction as a yes and took his brother into the small bedroom adjoined on to the living area. Shutting the door, he turned to Karil feverishly. ''What on earth just happened?''

Karil raised his eyebrows He'd been observing her and thought she was being truthful, despite the facts that she claimed to be true being unbelievable. ''However strange her facts are Rolf, I think she's telling the truth.''

Rolf stared at his brother in disbelief. ''Karil, she's claiming to be the daughter of Morgan Le Fay!'' He sat down on the bed.

''I was watching her Rolf. She showed the five signs of honesty, one, -''

''I don't need to hear your five signs of honesty, Karil. If you say she is telling the truth - then what are we going to do with her?'' Rolf cut across his brother, at loss of what to do with the extraordinarily strange creature who was still sat in his living room.

''We need to talk to her. Know the full story.'' Karil told his brother calmly. Despite being the less social one of the two, he was quite calm in those sort of situations. ''Come on.'' Opening the door, he beckoned Rolf to follow him, and with a sigh, his brother did so. However, readying himself to speak, Karil found only an empty seat to speak to.
