Chapter 30 ~ The Third Task

''Now we simply await the Hogwart's champions-ah! Here's one of them.'' Katie Bell turned her head and greeted Albus, who didn't return the friendly smile. He was pale and sweating, Vlad hadn't spoken to him and Lily wasn't anywhere. Had Vlad failed in his quest to bring her back? Once again, no one had noticed her absence. Because of the third task, no lessons had taken place that day. No teachers had realized. Oh god, what was he going to do?

Professor Mcgongall frowned at the sight of him coming alone. Where was his fellow champion? She glanced at Percy Weasley, who was checking his watch again. The Beaxbatons had just gone in. Everyone was ready-or so she had thought.

Albus watched his Professor, waiting for a chance to tell her. Then Katie Bell went off to speak to Percy Weasley and Krumm took his champions a little way off to discuss tactics. The optimum moment.

''Prof-'' He began, but she cut over him, looking at something behind him with disapproval. He spun round.

Lily was sprinting towards him, not with that impossible speed of her true self but with tired, stumbling steps and wild eyes filled with panic. Professor Mcgongall's greeting made some impression on her, she slowed down, and panting, acknowledged her headmistress meekly.

''Sorry I'm late Professor Mcgongall.'' She gasped. ''I had to-''

''Nevermind what your excuse is, tidy yourself up a bit and we'll get going. You two are entering the maze any minute.''

And sure enough, hardly ten seconds after Mcgongall had spoken those words, Katie Bell came bounding up and grinned at the two champions.

''Time for team Hogwarts to enter the maze. Remember, if your team is in trouble it's ''Vermillious'', to be cast upwards so as to alert the judges. Ok then, let's get you in.'' She ushered the two of them enthusiastically and shoved them into the Maze before holding her wand to her mouth. ''THE HOGWART'S CHAMPIONS HAVE ENTERED THE MAZE!''
