Mondelwyn'S Encyclopedia Of Enchantments

Mondelwyn's Encyclopedia of Enchantments was written by Mercurian Mondelwyn, a widely travelled wizard of the seventeenth century. His ambition was to publish a tome containing all spells and enchantments that were practiced wizards of various parts of the world, hence this precious volume. Lost to obscurity, his Encyclopedia has recently resurfaced due to renewed academic interest in the early 1900s, and has proved remarkably insightful on the diversity of charms and curses of the magical world. This book is for both the novice and the master, for the curious and the learned. It describes common charms as wells as complex curses, offering information and inspiration alike. (Author's note: this is an exercise in indulgent spell-making, and thus will contain many non-canonic incantations and spells, and take several liberties with the spells taught in HiH. Spells Of Fire - From Incendio To Immortal Fires

Chapter 2

1.1 Fire-Making Spell

Incantation: Incendio
Difficulty: I
Counterspell: Extinguishing Spell (1.14), Water-Making Charm (2.1)
Effect: Creates a fire at an intended area.
Concentration required: Only upon casting.

Variant 1.1.1 Firestorm Enchantment

Incantation: Incendio Totalum
Difficulty: III
Counterspell: Extinguishing Spell (1.14), Water-Making Charm (2.1)
Effect: Creates a wall of fire at intended areas.
Concentration required: As long as the wall of fire is being conjured. While the fire wall may persist after disrupted concentration, the ability to conjure fire ceases with concentration.

1.2 Warming Charm

Incantation: Focillo
Difficulty: I
Counterspell: Cooling Charm (2.4)
Effect: Warms up a cool substance considerably.
Concentration required: As long as the warming effect is desired. Warming ceases upon disruption of concentration.
Object enchantment uses: Can be imbued in objects to radiate warmth, such as cloaks.

1.3 Hot Air Charm

Incantation: Calaeris
Difficulty: I
Counterspell: Cooling Charm (2.4)
Effect: Conjures an envelop of hot breeze in the area to warm the surroundings. It is often used to blow off snow on cloaks.
Concentration required: As long as the hot air is desired. Hot air ceases with concentration.

1.4 Drought Charm

Also known as: Vaporification Spell
Incantation: Vaporify
Difficulty: I
Counterspell: Condensation Charm (2.5), Glacial Charm (2.3)
Effect: Heats a solid or liquid into its gaseous state almost instantaneously. Can be used to dry up puddles, ponds or wet objects.
Concentration required: As long as the vaporisation effect is desired. Evaporation ceases upon disruption of concentration.

1.5 Smelting Charm

Also known as: Dempsey's Silent Thermogenesis, Hephaestus' Forge
Incantation: Fortiforge
Difficulty: III
Counterspell: Cooling Charm (2.4), Glacial Charm (2.3)
Effect: Heats up material from the inside to its melting temperature in a controlled manner. It is sometimes used to shape glass or metal to form utensils. Hot material can be manipulated with concentration for the shaping.
Concentration required: Throughout the duration of the melting process. Heat ceases to be applied with disruption of concentration. Precise concentration required for the controlled shaping of the molten metal.

1.6 Conflagration Spell

Incantation: Inflammare
Difficulty: II
Counterspell: Extinguishing Spell (1.14), Water-Making Charm (2.1)
Effect: Causes an intended target to burst into flames that are magically sustained until the target is completely combusted. Typically used in lighting bonfires.
Concentration required: Only upon casting.
Known specific variants: Cloak Conflagration Spell, Lacernum Inflammare.

1.7 Bluebell Flames Enchantment

Incantation: Ardeo Innoxium
Difficulty: II
Counterspell: Extinguishing Spell (1.14)
Effect: Creates waterproof blue flames that can be transported safely by the caster.
Concentration required: Upon casting. Discontinuous concentration after casting still allows the caster to move the flames around.

1.8 Fireball Hex

Incantation: Igneorbis
Difficulty: II
Counterspell: A typical fireball would travel too quickly to be dispersed, though a rapid Dispersion Counterspell (0.3) might have an effect.
Effect: Creates a huge, fast-travelling fireball in the direction indicated by the wand.
Concentration required: Only upon casting.

1.9 Flagrante Curse

Incantation: Flagrate
Difficulty: II
Counterspell: Extinguishing Spell (1.14)
Effect: Draws a scorching, fiery trail in the air or on objects.
Concentration required: As long as the fire trail is being drawn. While the fire trail may persist after disrupted concentration, the ability to draw fire ceases with concentration.
Object enchantment uses: Can be imbued in objects for them to burn anyone who handles them.

Difficulty: III
Counterspell: Extinguishing Spell (1.14)
Effect:

1.10 Gubraithian Fire Enchantment

Also known as: Ignis Immortalis
Incantations: Igneterna Imperviosus
Difficulty: V
Counterspell: Whi
Effect: Creates an everlasting fire that is magically sustained and does not require fuel, and is resistant to any standard extinguishment attempts.
Concentration required: Only upon casting, though casting consumes much willpower, extended focus and time.

1.11 Meteor Shower Enchantment

Also known as: Rain of Fire, Firestorm Enchantment
Incantation: Pluvigneum Meteora
Difficulty: IV
Counterspell: Atmospheric Countercharm (0.5)
Effect: Creates a storm of fire over a large area with raining fireballs and fiery winds.
Precautions: It is strongly advised to cast a Flame-Freezing Charm (1.15)
Concentration required: Upon casting.

1.12 Fiendfyre Curse

Incantation: Flagreohex Ardemonium
Difficulty: V (Dark)
Termination: Cannot be terminated by normal magical means, may be able to be undone by complex dispelling enchantments
Effect: Creates a wall of fire fueled by dark magic

1.13 Magmanimus Curse

Incantation: Vulcaneo Magmanimus 
Difficulty: IV
Counterspell: Indelugement Spell (2.6). Might be possible to be tempered using a Glacial Charm (2.3) to a small degree.
Effect: Creates a pool of lava on a targeted area that can be manipulated into various forms.
Concentration required:

1.14 Extinguishing Spell

Incantation: Restinguo
Difficulty: II
Effect: Extinguishes fire sustained by fuel or simple magical means (1.1, 1.3, 1.4, 1.5)
