There Is a Better Way

Chapter 17

Although Lenin was a tyrant, he was not an evil man.
To give power to the workers, he devised a fiendish plan.
He led a revolution through the power of the gun,
And while he was alive, there were some good things that were done,
But he set up a dictatorship to guard what he had won.
He intended to discard it, but before he had begun,
He died, and Joseph Stalin, who took over, had such fun
Killing twenty million people, and for all that loss of blood,
The outcome for the working class was anything but good,
For though nobody was unemployed, there wasn't much to eat,
So a lot of people were reduced to begging on the street.
There is a better way to bring about a better day.
You tax the rich to give the poorer people what they need,
Like the Swedish Social Democrats with Palme in the lead.
Before the man was murdered by a thug who carried heat,
There was not a single beggar on a single Swedish street.

Like Lenin, Gellert Grindelwald was not an evil man.
To give power to the wizards, he devised a fiendish plan:
They'd not have to hide from Muggles, who'd be under wizards' rule.
He thought wizards would be happy - the delusion of a fool,
For he fought all his opponents and he threw them all in jail,
So his plan to help the magic folks would ultimately fail.
It is fortunate that Dumbledore could beat him in a duel,
Or the Dark Lord would have killed him, taking over all his power,
And his Death Eaters would kill a lot of wizards every hour,
And the folks who could have stopped him would be languishing in jail,
So all efforts to defeat him would be surely doomed to fail.
There is a better way to bring about a better day.
We stop hiding from the Muggles and stop messing with their minds,
And we show them that most wizards are not evilly inclined.
Then we help them with our magic, as we did in days of yore,
And they'll help us with their science, which they couldn't do before,
And that's a better outcome than the spoils of a war.
