Chapter 1 : Getting started

Chapter 1

After you have joined the google classroom (bgh7ctq), you will need to start off your Hogwarts journey by filling out the entry form.

#1 Do not put your last name as Malfoy, Riddle, Knott, Weasly, Granger, Potter, Black, Lestrange, Lupin, Snape, Lovegood, Diggory, Evans, Parkinson ect

Nobody wants to hear that you are Hermione's Slytherin sister or Draco'sGryffindorr girlfriend.

The 'Classwork' is divided up into 4 sections, called topics. They are 'Starting up', 'Joining class', 'Becoming a teacher', and 'extra curriculum'.

Starting up

Under 'Starting Up' there's the introduction quiz and a link to both versions of the student handbook. They both contain the same information, it's up to personal preference which one you use. The introduction quiz can only be answered once so make sure you are happy with your answers. If you do make a mistake, use the private comments to tell the professors and they'll change it!

#2 If you have any question about a particular piece of work, use the ‘private comments’ to directly message the teacher.

The student handbooks contain step by step guides on how to thrive in Hogwarts. The majority of questions you may have will be answered in here!

#3 Before asking your professor a daft question, take a glance over the handbook so you can avoid getting on your professor's bad side!

Joining class

Everyone will start Hogwarts as a first year, regardless of their age. So far, it's undecided how long an acedemic year will be; Every acedemic year students (assuming they've done well on their end of years) will go up a year.(e.g 1st years will become 2nd years) As a first year, you must enroll in all of the classes provided.

#4 Don’t try to cheat the system by not joining all the classes! The subject professor and your Head of House will know and you’ll have an interesting email heading your way!

This leads up onto tip #5

#5 Emails! From the moment you join Hogwarts you must keep your inbox organized as you will be being sent emails left, right and center about almost everything that happens. It is up to you whether or not you keep or delete these emails but make sure you read them as they might contain important information!

To join a class , I would suggest you duplicate your tab (by right clicking it). On the first tab open up the document with all of the class codes on and on the second tab click on the three lines in the top left corner, then select ‘Classes’. After click on the + in the top right, join a class then enter the class code for the class you want to join.

Your timetables will tell you what day each lesson is released. At the moment we have a weekly rotor, which means that every week the timetable restarts. On the timetable, underneath all of the lessons, you’ll see the extra-curriculum , we’ll go over them later on.

Becoming a Teacher

At the start of the year, everyone had the opportunity to apply to become a teacher. All you have to do is respond to the google forms!

#6 Before you send in your application, ensure you are able to fully take on the commitment and you won’t quit after a week. Remember to read the other attached documents before sending in your application.

Know what you are signing yourself up for!

For more information on this, go to chapter 2

Extra-curriculum

Hogwarts has a wide variety of extracurricular clubs to join. Although it is not mandatory to join any, it is highly encouraged as it creates a sense of community. One of the more renowned clubs here, quidditch has limited spaces and you’ll need to ‘tryout’ to get into, there is a whole other chapter (chapter 4) on this so if you are interested you should read up on that as well. All of the other clubs can have unlimited people, all you need to do to join is fill out an entry form and join the classroom linked. You can quit any club at any time just make sure to let the person in charge know.

In third year, students will be able to set up their own clubs (for as long as there is professor present)

Questions

If you ever have any questions here are the steps you should follow:

  1. Depending on what the question is about, look in the comments of the classwork and/or in the student handbook among similar topics

  2. If it is a question concerning a certain subject:

    1. Ask the professor in the private comments of the material / work it’s concerning

    2. If they don’t get back to you within 48 hours, send them an email (with hogwartsmanagement01@gmail.com cc-ed)

  3. If it is a question concerning a more general subject

    1. Send the question as an announcement onto your Common Room and your Head of House , Prefect or classmates should answer you

    2. If you don’t get a reply / a helpful answer within 48 hours, send your Head of House an email (with hogwartsmanagement01@gmail.com cc-ed)
