Diagon Alley

Chapter 2

URGH. LIFE WAS SO HARD. Stygian had stepped into Diagon Alley and instantly hated it. The roads were bustling with odd witches and wizards, while there were birds chipping and chapping their awfulness here and there. A cat nearly jumped onto Stygian's face as she walked. She had thought that the wizarding world was a nice place, but clearly she was wrong. She sighed.

'What's wrong, honey?' Her mum said over all the hideous sounds. It was quite reassuring to hear her mum's voice.

'Nothing.' She lied.

Stygian had nearly everything she needed; a cauldron, books, quills..

There was only one thing left.

A wand.

Her mother let her go into Ollivanders herself while she went to do some important 'buisness.'

Stygian Hippogrith hopped into Ollivanders. The place was brown and covered with shelves full of boxes, that, undoubtedly, had wands inside them.

WHOOSH!

Mr Ollivander appeared out of nowhere, with his grey and white hair and silver eyes. He smiled slightly.

'Ahhh, I remember your mother skipping into here to get a wand like yesterday.' He said immediately.

Stygian wrinkled her nose, trying very hard not to judge the man because of his looks, since he was wearing an old coat with an orange and purple bow tie.

'So.. I need a wand.' She said instead, her voice steady and cool, waiting patiently to recieve a wand.

'Ah, yes. A wand.. Hm.. A wand..' Mr Ollivander started muttering, looking around in the shelves. Stygian only just managed to not roll her eyes.

'Try.. This one," Mr Ollivander lent Stygian a grey wand, inscribed with pictures of unicorns. Stygian held it gingerly. A few moments passed.

'Go on, give it a wave.' Mr Ollivander said, smiling. Stygian flicked the wand at a vase and it exploded.

'Oh, nevermind.' Mr Ollivander waved his hand dismissively, and sauntered over to a different shelf. Stygian was starting to get impatient, and placed down the wand on the Mr Ollivander's table. What was the point of all this?

Mr Ollivander handed her a couple more wands, but none of them were just right for her.

He noticed the way Stygian tapped her foot impatiently.

'Don't get too tied up, Miss Hippogriff. You must be patient. Remember, the wand chooses the wizard.' Mr Ollivander gave Stygian a red wand that had loops spinning all around it, all the way to the top.

'Sycamore wood, phoenix feather core, 11-14 inches, and swishy flexible.' Mr Ollivander muttered under his breath. What does 'swishy flexible' even mean? Stygian wondered. She sighed and swished the wand at a nearby shelf, only for a strange red light to emit from the tip of her wand.

Woah..

That was strange.
