Chapter 4
Lily noticed Colin trying to apologize but she ignored it, He had annoyed her more. Couldn't he see he was trying to be alone with her boyfriend? Then she noticed Colin's eyes. She saw something she never saw before: anger. Quickly, she tried to amend. "Colin,I-I didn't mean it,-" she stopped when she saw him draw his wand. She had never seen him like this. Then, he did something that made her heart stop, he pointed his wand straight at Oliver. "No, Colin. Please don't hurt him. " she stammered but fell silent when Colin stared into Oliver's eyes. If you breathe one single word about what Lily divulged to you, I shall burn you Oliver Brown. And if your girlfriend ever tells another, I shall hunt you down, Oliver, and make you bleed. Lily felt herself break. Tears formed as she watched him threaten Oliver. "D-don't hurt him, Colin. Hurt me instead please" But he was finished and stood up going over to his book and satchel. He turned back to her. "We will speak of this another time, cousin. About what it means to be kin." he spat and her and everything broke. He was leaving and Lily called out to him. "Colin, I didn't mean too!Don't leave! " But he ignored her and she started to cry, sinking to the ground.
Somethings not adding up…. Why had Colin lashed out like that? To Oliver t was a big mystery. He gave lily his jacket and pulled her up. “Look we got to go back. Everything will be alright. I promise” Oliver said as he put his hand around her. “What was that all about? I think I am missing something… why had he suddenly stopped talking normally?” he asked her. ”Is there… is there something I should know?” he added as they slowly walked back to the castle. Then something happened. He sensed something was wrong. He had a knack for sensing danger. Like when he avoided the rock a school bully in his old school threw at him from behind. He had his wand in his pocket with his hand holding it tightly. He had a feeling that he would need it. He looked around for any signs of danger. Nothing. He relaxed a bit. “I think… I think its best if we try to avoid anything that would trigger Colins umm … angry side.” he said talking to her. “On the good side, he wasn’t a prefect… nothing can be worse than detention! Right? he said jokingly not sure if she was in the mood for jokes.
Lily couldn't stop crying and when Oliver asked her what happened she sniffed. "When he scared me I let slip to you that his werewolf senses must have sniff us out. You see he has lycanthropy and he didn't like what I told you.He knew I wasn't teasing." Lily just couldn't stop crying. Colin did something he would never be forgiven for. One thing was certain, nothing will be the same between the cousins. They had both hurt each other emotionally and neither would be happy about it. She crossed a line but Colin crossed it more and next time they run into each other..... it's not going to go well. She slipped his jacket on and tried to wipe the tears but that was useless: they went right back. "I'm sorry, I didn't think he would do that. He's never lost it." They reached the hallway, but she didn't want to leave him. "I don't want to be alone tonight." she whispered, looking down. She wasn't scared she was just hurt and didn't want to spend the night alone. She wanted to spend it with someone who cared. She knew Clark would be sleeping by now so she couldn't go to him.
“There is nothing for you to be sorry about” Oliver said to Lily as they walked closer the the entrance of the castle. He sat down with her on the steps. ”You don’t need to be alone. I am here when you need me” He said. It was true. He had no intentions of sleeping. He was too busy thinking about something. He put his arm around her as they looked up into the moon. Today, was the best and worst day of my life. And- and I think I was the cause… I shouldn’t have told her anything. This wouldn’t happen… he thought. He ruined another relationship. “Im Sorry…” he said blinking the tears out of his eyes. “You and Colin… I ruined your relationship as cousins... if anyone is to blame, its me.” he said. He had never felt like this. Not since the time he had had that argument with his brother. He felt worse. He started coughing. “Its getting worse” he thought. He was already tired, not to mention stressed with what happened. But he tried to keep it cool. “Lily, I have to tell you something, … something very important. Its- ita about my brother.”
Lily leaned against Oliver. "It's not your fault. If I hadn't said anything about the werewolf he wouldn't have went off. Your not to blame." Things might have turned out differently is she hadn't said anything. Colin and her would still be close. She knew it was selfish, but her and Colin had a really close relationship and she didn't want it to end. But she knew that what happened tonight had made him angry and nothing would be the same. She didn't know if he really wanted a relationship anymore, the way he just acted. And she wasn't going to deal with him hurting Oliver. If he must hurt someone he'll have to hurt her. Oliver told hi he had something to tell her. Something about his brother. {color=purple]"Is he okay?"[/color] She asked. Lily had never heard about Oliver's brother. He must have went to another school. As she waited her imaginative mind kept thinking of terrible things that could have happened. Cursing herself silently, she turned her attention to Oliver to hear what he was going to tell her. Lily had a sense of foreboding and her senses were usually right. Key word: Usually.
