It's a Definite Kind of Love (A Blackinnon Fanfiction)

written by Jui Weasley

Ever since that one kiss, something had changed between them. They were more comfortable with each other. They cared for each other (mostly... sometimes... 70% of the time... 60%...) They actually tried hard for each other. This is the story of Sirius Black and Marlene McKinnon. WARNING: There are mentions of violence in this story. If it is a trigger, feel free to close this book. All credits go to J.K. Rowling except for my OCs. Please keep in mind that I do not support her views on the LGBTQIA+ community, as I am part if that community myself. Thanks for taking the time to read. SOMEBODY ONCE TOLD ME

Chapter 28

A/n: This is a very historically inaccurate chapter.... You'll see why...

Marlene, Lily, and Alice sat at the Gryffindor table in the Great Hall for breakfast, gobbling up some scrambled eggs.

Marlene's mood had increased greatly ever since she had the talk with Lily, and she was now joking around with Alice.

Lily, however, had a book propped up against her jug of ornge juice and was reading it at a slightly sickening pace.

"Goodness, Lily," sighed Alice. "You must take a short break- the NEWTs aren't until 6 more months."

Lily shook her head, cereal in her mouth, and continued to read.

Alice sighed again and turned back to Marlene to discuss the upcoming Quidditch World Cup.

"No- but see," argued Marlene. "Clearly Argentina's gonna win, they have Tiago on their team."

"But that's one player," retorted Alice. "They can't win with one good player. France is winning."

"Yeah, but Argentina's been having more practices- and they're been practicing in the Quidditch field that they're going to be playing in next week," continued Marlene, sipping her pumpkin juice.

(Congrats Argentina for winning the World Cup!!!)

Just as Alice was about to retort, a barn owl fluttered down and dropped a letter on her head.

Alice read the front. "It says to Lily Evans."

Lily looked up as Alice handed the envelope. Marlene spit out her scrambled eggs on accident.

"That isn't any letter," she noted. "That's a Howler!"

Lily looked confused. "Why'd I get a Howler?"

Marlene shrugged. "Open it- it'll probably explode anyways."

Lily nodded tentatively and opened the red seal.

Silence. A Howler wasn't meant to be quie-

"SOMEBODY ONCE TOLD ME THE WORLD WAS GONNA ROLL ME, I AIN'T THE SHARPEST TOOL IN THE SHEEEEDDDDDDDDDD-" screeched the Howler.

"Isn't that... All Star?" asked Marlene in confusion, covering her ears.

Lily nodded in horror.

Alice was nowhere to be seen, probably already run off to escape the song.

Everyone in the Great Hall watched as the Howler belted out another line:

"SHE WAS LOOKIN' KINDA DUMB WITH HER FINGER AND HER THUMB- IN THE SHAPE OF A L ON HER FOREHEADDDDDDDDD-" shrieked the Howler again.

The staff was now staring in amusement at the erupting Howler, and Lily was furiously trying to make it shut up.

Marlene held in a snicker. But then she saw James, Remus, Sirius, and Peter cracking up at the other end of the table.

She got up and walked up to the Marauders. "This is your doing, isn't it?"

James nodded, wiping away tears of laughter.

Marlene snorted. "You idiots. Great job."

Sirius mock-bowed. "Thank you."

Marlene walked back to the Howler, who was still screaming All Star.

"HEY NOW- YOU'RE AN ALL STAR- GET YOUR GAME ONNNNN GOOOOOO PLAYYYYYYYYYY-"

"PUT A SOCK IN IT!!" Lily shrieked at the Howler in frustration.

The Howler, obviously, didn't shut up.

"ALL THAT GLITTERS IS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLDDDDD!" continued the Howler annoyingly.

Finally, Dumbledore walked down to the Gryffindor table to force the Howler closed with some fancy magic.

"Thanks, Professor," sighed Lily gratefully, brushing her now messy red hair out of her face.

Dumbledore smiled at her and walked back up to the staff table, but Marlene could've sworn that he winked at the Marauders, who were still cracking up.

Everyone in the Great Hall was either still:

A) Giggling

B) Being annoyed

C) The purebloods not knowing what song that was

D) SINGING THE REST OF THE SONG LIKE LEGENDS

Lily stood up in rage and turned to the Marauders, who immediately shut up.

"In our defense," said James nervously. "You looked like you liked the song..."

Lily pursed her lips. "I'm gonna get you back for this someday, James."

She checked her watch. "Great, I'm gonna miss Charms. Bye, James," Lily said, ruffling his hair.

"Not the beautiful hair!" gasped James dramatically.

"Ah, shut up, you great wuss."

Marlene and Sirius exchanged an amused glance.

Marlene turned to Remus. "You seen Alice?"

Remus nodded kindly. "She was telling me that James and Sirius are going to be the death of her, so she went to her first class early."

Lily's eyes widened. "I ought to go too. See ya, Mar."

Marlene waved to Lily as she ran to her next class.

"Don't you have a class too?" asked James suspiciously.

Marlene grinned. "Fortunately for me, I have a free period in the morning. Wake me up in 45 minutes."

She waved bye to the 4 boys and went up to her own dorm for a nice, well earned, nap.

As Marlene flopped onto her bed, she yelped, feeling something underneath her back.

It was a tiny box. Slightly suspicious, Marlene placed it on the floor and got ready to open it with her wand.

"Cistem Aperio!" she whispered, pointing her wand at the box.

The lid of the tiny box popped open to reveal a...

"Nothing?" asked a confused Marlene out loud.

She scooted closer to the box tentatively, until...

"SOMEBODY ONCE TOLD ME THE WORLD WAS GONNA ROLL ME- I AIN'T THE SHARPEST TOOL IN THE SHEEEEDDDDDD-" screamed the box.

"OH FOR GODRIC'S SAKE NOT AGAIN!" Marlene shrieked. "COLLOPORTUS!" she yelled again, and the box closed shut.

Storming back down the the Great Hall, box in hand, Marlene caught Sirius and James giggling again.

"YOU IDIOTS!" shrieked Marlene, and she threw the box in their faces.

Sirius giggled. "Ok, but you have to admit, it was a pretty good prank."

Marlene groaned. "Poor Alice, she's probably gonna go through that too."

Sirius and James exchanged a glance. "Well..."

Marlene turned to Remus. "You're a prefect! How could you let the literal HEAD BOY do this?"

Remus snorted. "The last time I told them off was the LAST TIME I told them off."

Marlene pursed her lips. "James, I thought you were Head Boy!"

"I am," said James proudly. "And I can take points off you if you complain."

Marlene glared at him. "I'm starting to wonder if you blackmailed Dumbledore into picking you as Head Boy."

Sirius grinned. "I dunno, maybe he did."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
By the end of that week, everyone in school had been the victim of All Star at least ONCE.
Even the teachers had heard the song enough times- in the MIDDLE of class.
"Today we are learning the Silencing Charm," said Flitwick. "In light of- ah- recent events, I found this charm would be helpful." Flitwick glared pointedly at James and Sirius, who giggled quietly.
"The first step is to-"
"SOMEBODY ONCE TOLD ME-"
The whole classroom started blasting out All Star AGAIN. How, though, no one knew.
"OH FOR ROWENA'S SAKE!" shrieked Flitwick. "NOT AGAIN!"
The whole class had burst into tears of laughter.
Marlene turned to glance at Lily, who, like Marlene, was also giggling furiously.
"This'll never end, will it?" asked Marlene quietly.
"Never," said Lily with a smirk.
A/n: So many early chapters lately ik, but I NEEDED to write this chapter- All Star is LITERALLY my favorite song.
Also, I know it's a little inaccurate because All Star was released in 1999, and this is set in 1978, but I love the song too much :)
This was more of just like a filler chapter, but I felt like writing today so here :)
Thanks for sooooo many reads, all of you! And thanks for all of the support throughout the story as well!
Love, Jui W.
