1. Firstly, get to a safe place. You can’t properly clean the wound until you are safe.

2. Rinse the wound under cool water for 2 minutes.

3. Wash the bite with soap for 5 minutes.

4. Let it air dry.

5. Apply an antibacterial potion and let dry.

6. Apply a healing potion, such as Essence of Dittany. If you do not have one, contact the nearest magical medical facility.

7. Cover the wound with an appropriately sized bandage.

8. Change the bandage and apply more salve every 4 hours.

9. A potion to help with pain may be used.

• Dark red skin around the bite

• Pus draining from the bite
