61. A True Hero

Chapter 61

As the blazing sun rose over Hogwarts, the Great Hall rejoiced in jubilation. Cheers, tears of joy and applause could be heard from everywhere.

Sirius, Andromeda, Teddy, Victoire and Andrew were the first to run over to hug Marigold, soon followed by the Potters, Malfoys and Professors McGonagall, Longbottom, Sprout, Flitwick, Slughorn and countless others. They all reached to grab Marigold’s hand and hug her.

The Great Hall was filled with life and light, and in the centre of it all was Marigold, their new hero, the new saviour of the wizarding world.

The celebration was interrupted when Hermione Granger and Mrs Laird entered the Great Hall with big smiles.

“There’s more to come,” Hermione announced.

Mrs Laird gestured towards the entrance; swarms of people began flooding in.

Among the first group of people to arrive was Justin Finch-Fletchley, who ran over to his husband Ernie and their son Henry Macmillan, who embraced him.

When the second group entered, Albus gasped upon noticing a familiar curly-haired boy in Hufflepuff robes.

 “Marigold!” Albus called. “David’s here!”

A big smile spread across Marigold and Andrew’s faces upon noticing David, who immediately started running toward his friends.

David hugged Marigold tightly, their faces glowing with delight, before turning to Andrew, who flushed bright red, stuttering.

Marigold giggled as she watched David and Andrew shake each other’s hands awkwardly.

 “Welcome back, David,” Andrew sputtered.

“It’s good to be back,” David said, smiling. “I missed you two so much.”

“We missed you too. We’re so happy to see you again,” Marigold replied, smiling back.

As Andrew and David began chatting, Marigold glanced at the entrance; she caught a glimpse of a man with greying light brown hair and a few scars on his face.

Marigold, Sirius, Andromeda and Teddy all ran to him at once.

Sirius and Remus threw their arms around each other before sharing a passionate kiss.

When Remus released Sirius after what seemed like an eternity, Marigold burst into tears as she hugged her father; she had missed him so much.

Bill, Fleur, Victoire, Dominique and Louis slowly made their way over to the Lupin-Black family.

Remus released Andromeda and Teddy before shaking Bill and Fleur’s hands.

“Welcome to the family,” Bill smiled good-heartedly.

“I’m glad that a wonderful young lady like Victoire came into my son’s life,” Remus said sincerely. “And I feel blessed and honoured to have such great people like you all in our family.”

Teddy draped his arm over Victoire’s shoulder; they were glowing with love and happiness as they gazed into each other’s eyes.

Marigold and Louis were high-fiving each other cheerfully when the Potters walked up to them.

As Lily happily greeted Remus, Marigold smiled with gratitude at Albus, who nodded that he understood, still beaming proudly.

Marigold then turned to look at James, who pulled her into a deep embrace.

“Thank you, Goldie,” he said, tearing up a bit. “For saving my life. And the wizarding world. It wouldn’t have happened if it weren’t for you.”

Then, ignoring the fact that there were hundreds of people watching, they kissed.

Sirius, Remus, Andromeda, Bill, Fleur, Harry, Ginny, Teddy, Victoire, Dominique, Louis, Albus and Lily smiled in response.

“Really, Goldie, we really don’t know how to repay you,” Ginny said, grabbing Marigold’s hands and looking deep into her eyes. “Thank you so much for saving our son,”

“You were incredibly brave,” Sirius added.

“We’re so proud of you,” Remus added.

“You really are a true hero,” Andromeda added.

“For a hero isn't measured by the size of their strength, but by the strength of their heart,” Harry added, smiling proudly.

Albus started clapping; the other Potters, Lupin-Blacks and the Weasleys joined, soon followed by the entire Great Hall.

Marigold beamed proudly and her heart swelled with pride and joy; at last, she was a true hero, one whose strength came from her power of kindness, courage and most importantly, love.

As Alistair and Catherine Bell, James and Lily Potter, Lorenzo Santini I, Nymphadora Tonks, Regulus Black, Albus Dumbledore and Godric Gryffindor watched them from the afterlife, they glowed with happiness and pride.

“Well done, my girl,” Dumbledore said.
