60. Marigold vs Delphini

Chapter 60

But before Delphini could lay a hand on Sirius, there was a roar from a distance.

 “PROTEGO!”

It was from Marigold, whose Shield Charm expanded across the Great Hall, protecting her father and everyone else there.

Upon noticing Marigold, some in the Great Hall, except for Harry, Ginny, James and Lily, who were carrying more injured and dead bodies with the help of a few others, began cheering, while others gasped in surprise.

“Look, it’s Marigold!” Andrew shouted in delight.

Katie Bell started weeping, staring at her niece.

“Marigold….” she whispered. “I hadn’t seen you since you were a baby before Alistair died…. Look at how much you’ve grown…. You’re so strong, so brave….”

Katie wasn’t the only one who was overwhelmed with emotion.

Professors McGonagall, Longbottom, Sirius, Andromeda and Teddy ran over to Marigold.

“Marigold, are you alright?” Professor Longbottom was visibly panicking, his eyes as wide as plates. “When did you wake up? How are you feeling? You remember us, don’t you?”

“I’m alright, professor,” Marigold replied, looking at him straight in the eye.

Professor Longbottom pulled her into a hug and began sobbing.

“Are you sure you’re feeling alright, Miss Lupin-Black?” Professor McGonagall asked, her face filled with concern. “You don’t need to be out here, you know. You can stay in the hospital wing and relax.”

“Minerva’s right,” Sirius added. “We’ll visit you and stay at Hogwarts until you get out of the hospital wing.”

“You’ve done enough already, Marigold,” Andromeda added. “We’ll take it from here.”

“Let me take you back to the hospital wing,” Teddy added.

“Make way for Marigold Lupin-Black, our hero!” Albus shouted triumphantly, followed by cheers. “You see that, Delphini?! The war must go on!”

Delphini scoffed at him before turning to look at Marigold; her face was contorted with a mix of shock and anger.

When Professor Longbottom finally let go of her, Marigold faced Delphini, who was glaring down at her.

“We shall fight,” Delphini threatened, her face inches away from Marigold’s.

Professors McGonagall and Longbottom, Sirius, Andromeda, Teddy, Victoire, and all the members of what was the Order of the Phoenix and Dumbledore’s Army who were present stepped up next to Marigold.

“I don’t want any of you to help me. This is my fight,” she told them, before turning to Delphini, snarling. “Let’s finish this fight, Delphini. Let’s do this fair and square.”

Delphini’s glare turned into a sneering grin as she pulled out her wand and pointed it at Marigold.

 “Imperio!”

Marigold felt as though her mind went completely blank; she felt as though she was floating in the clouds, like a blissful dream.

“Why don’t you give up already, Lupin-Black, you foolish thing?” Delphini sneered.

 ‘I won’t,’

A voice echoed inside the back of Marigold’s head.

 ‘I will never,’

 “NEVER!”

A scream escaped Marigold’s mouth before she knew it.

“I’M NOT GONNA STAND BY AND WATCH YOU HURT INNOCENT PEOPLE!”

Marigold’s voice echoed across the Great Hall, as loudly as the Fiendfyre roaring below; her mind now felt clearer than ever.

 Delphini’s face turned sour.

“Resist all you want,” she said threateningly as Marigold tried her best not to flinch. “But the British wizarding world is in my hands now! Our world will be great again, free from mudblood filth….”

“You won’t do anything to the people as long as I’m around!” Marigold retorted.

“Lorenzo Santini said the same thing. And he’s GONE FOREVER!”

“Lorenzo never died. His soul will always be burning inside all of us! As long as some remain loyal to him!” Marigold roared. “You will never be as great as him. Lorenzo was always a better wizard than you and always will be!”

Delphini was visibly taken aback; she looked as though Marigold had slapped her.

“I’m warning you, Lupin-Black. Once I get rid of you, I’ll get rid of your friend Albus Potter next! And the wizarding world shall be MINE!”

Delphini’s supporters began cheering and applauding.

“Make the wizarding world great again!”

 “No place for mudbloods!”

“You’re not gonna get rid of us! We’re not going anywhere! We’re gonna stay and finish this!” Marigold shouted at Delphini and her supporters.

“Step away, you foolish girl,” Delphini snarled. “You’re afraid for your life, aren’t you?”

“You’re wrong!” Marigold stated confidently. “I’m afraid of an unjust, cruel wizarding world and its destruction. Which is why I’m here! You may have started this fight, Delphini, but I’m gonna FINISH IT!”

Without thinking, Delphini pointed her wand at the blonde girl.

 “Avada-”

 “EXPELLIARMUS!”

But Marigold was faster; she waved her wand, blocking the Killing Curse in time as Delphini’s wand went flying across the Great Hall.

Marigold waved her wand again with all her might, thinking of Remus, David, Lorenzo and everyone who had been victimised by Delphini; she wasn’t going to back down, no matter what it took.

A red jet of light from Marigold’s wand hit Delphini right in the centre of her chest.

For a split second, Delphini froze, her eyes bulging like a toad before she toppled backwards.

Delphini’s screams could be heard across the Great Hall as her body plummeted into the burning Fiendfyre, while Marigold stood triumphantly in front of the downfall of her enemy.
