The Unchosen One - A Harry Potter Story

When Marigold Lupin-Black, the daughter of Sirius Black and Remus Lupin, begins attending Hogwarts, she realises that pureblood supremacist ideologies still exist years after Lord Voldemort's defeat. The British wizarding world's fears come true once again when Delphini, the daughter of Lord Voldemort and Bellatrix Lestrange, seizes the position of Minister for Magic to "make the wizarding world great again" by expelling Muggles, Muggle-borns, squibs and werewolves, separating them from witches and wizards. Will Marigold be able to follow in her idol's footsteps, end Delphini's reign of terror and prove herself a true hero?

52. Something Worth Fighting For

Chapter 52

“Repeat after me - Riddikulus!” Harry stated, loud enough so that everyone could hear him.

 “Riddikulus!” they repeated.

“Brilliant,” Harry said. “Are we ready to try it now?”

As Harry reached to open the filing cabinet, Teddy burst into the Room of Requirement.

“Sorry I’m late,” he said. “Hope I didn’t miss anything.”

“Just in time, Teddy,” Harry said. “Come on in, we were just about to begin.”

Teddy stood next to Lorenzo, trying to meet his eyes. Lorenzo immediately averted his gaze elsewhere.

Upon noticing the tense atmosphere between them, Harry opened his mouth.

“Teddy, would you like to come up here and show us?”

 “What?” Teddy asked, confused.

“There’s a Boggart in there,” Victoire explained.

 “Oh, alright.”

Teddy walked up to the front of the room, and Harry opened the filing cabinet, from which something fell out that made everyone in the room freeze with terror.

It was the dead body of a girl with thick blonde curls who was wearing a Gryffindor robe - Marigold.

Teddy turned pale, staring at his sister’s dead body in horror. Even Lorenzo looked at him, his eyes filled with concern.

“Think, Teddy,” Harry reminded him. “It’s not real, relax, you know what to do-”

 “Riddikulus!”

The Gryffindor robes turned into a white bunny costume and the Boggart Marigold hopped around like a bunny as everyone in the room erupted in laughter.

“Wonderful, Teddy!” Harry exclaimed. “Next, Lorenzo!”

Lorenzo walked up in front of the Boggart, which started to rapidly change its form until he was standing face-to-face with a haughtily cackling Delphini.

“I kicked out all the Mudbloods and other scum, pity you and your pathetic army could do nothing about it,” she scoffed. “Make the wizarding world great again!”

Lorenzo stiffened, trying his best to mask his horror with defiance.

 “Riddikulus!”

The Boggart Delphini looked down, confused as her clothes changed into a hot dog costume; she looked annoyed as everyone in the Room of Requirement, including Lorenzo, laughed at her.

* * *

“That’s it for today,” Sirius said at the end of the meeting. “We’ll see you again on Wednesday.”

“But Sirius, we have Quidditch practice that day,” Rose said.

“Right, I almost forgot,” Sirius snapped his fingers. “We’ll be back on Thursday, then.”

“Lorenzo and Teddy, would you mind cleaning up?” Harry asked, his gaze fixed on Teddy, who gave him a thumbs-up.

Harry, Sirius, Andromeda, Victoire, Mrs Laird, Andrew, Celeste, Cosette, Fred, Roxanne, Georgina, Hercules, Louis, Noel, Lucy, William, Daisy, James, Patrick, Perseus, Albus, Rose, Scorpius, Lily, Hugo, Lorcan, Lysander and Robert left the Room of Requirement one by one.

“You can go,” Lorenzo said. “I can handle it on my own.”

 “I’ll help you,” Teddy replied.

“Really, I can do it by myself-”

 “I insist.”

Lorenzo stopped protesting as he and Teddy began organising the Room of Requirement in silence; when they were nearly finished, Teddy finally opened his mouth.

“I’ve heard about the attack on the Ministry of Magic,” he said. “And Hermione’s speech.”

“So you finally decided to believe me now?” Lorenzo scoffed. “About time.”

Teddy was taken aback but tried to remain calm.

“Hey, mate, listen, I’m really sorry,” he said sincerely. “You were right all along. To be honest, I believed in you the first time you said Delphini would start another war.”

 “It didn’t seem like it.”

“And you’re right, it is our duty to fight back against Delphini, no matter what it takes, for the sake of all those people and their families.”

 Lorenzo’s haughty expression softened.

“It’s alright,” he said. “I should’ve been more considerate. Of course, you wouldn’t want another war, especially with what happened with your sister….”

“Don’t worry about her, mate,” Teddy replied. “She’ll be alright, I know she will be.”

 Lorenzo sighed.

“For the past few days, I couldn’t stop thinking about my conversation with Marigold that we had last year on Boxing Day,” he said. “I never should’ve said what I said….”

“Why, what did you say to her?”

“That she needs to believe in herself to become the hero she aspires to be - which I know she can,” Lorenzo replied, his perfectly sculpted face solemn. “But I never would’ve thought she would put herself in such danger….”

“Hey, don’t blame yourself, it’s not your fault,” Teddy comforted him. “And you’re right, Marigold is brilliant and I know she’ll do something great someday. I just hope she could see what you see.”

Lorenzo, whose blue eyes were glistening, looked into Teddy’s.

“Listen, mate, Marigold may be young, but she’s got just as much potential, if not more, than any witches and wizards that are older,” Teddy said. “Besides, she really needed someone like you to push her in the right direction.”

Lorenzo could tell that Teddy meant everything he said.

“I believe in my sister, and I believe in you. And we will fight in her name together.”
