The Unchosen One - A Harry Potter Story

When Marigold Lupin-Black, the daughter of Sirius Black and Remus Lupin, begins attending Hogwarts, she realises that pureblood supremacist ideologies still exist years after Lord Voldemort's defeat. The British wizarding world's fears come true once again when Delphini, the daughter of Lord Voldemort and Bellatrix Lestrange, seizes the position of Minister for Magic to "make the wizarding world great again" by expelling Muggles, Muggle-borns, squibs and werewolves, separating them from witches and wizards. Will Marigold be able to follow in her idol's footsteps, end Delphini's reign of terror and prove herself a true hero?

48. The Room of Requirement

Chapter 48

During lunch, Lorenzo, Sirius and Mrs Laird sat at the Gryffindor table with Andrew, James, Rose, Lily and Hugo. Teddy sat with the other Hufflepuffs, Victoire sat with her brother Louis and the other Ravenclaws, and Andromeda sat with Albus and Scorpius at the Slytherin table.

Fiona flew over the Gryffindor table with a letter tied to her ankle; she landed in front of Andrew.

“Who’s it from?” Mrs Laird asked.

“It’s probably from David. I’ve been waiting for his response,” Andrew put his fork down, untied the letter and opened it as the others gathered around him.

Dear Andrew,

I can’t believe all of that happened. I’m worried about Marigold as much as you, but I know she’s strong and that she’ll make it. Let me know if there’s anything I can do.

I’m glad that you and Albus and everyone sent owls to the Ministry after the incident. Hopefully, Delphini will be punished for good so that I can finally return to Britain.

I miss you all so much.

David

P.S. Madison says hi.

“I do hope David and Remus will return soon,” Sirius said, poking a sausage with his fork. “And the others. I can’t wait for Delphini to be kicked out and for all of this to be over.”

“Do you think the Ministry got our owls by now?” Albus asked.

“I hope so, although I’m sure Delphini and Pansy Parkinson would’ve ripped all of our letters,” James replied.

Mrs Laird swallowed her food before opening her mouth.

“Don’t you worry about that,” she said. “Mrs Granger and those on our side who are still in the Ministry were able to intercept them before Delphini got her hands on them.”

“Mrs Granger? Hermione?” Sirius asked. “I’m surprised she’s still there. I mean, she’s brilliant, of course, but I was sure Delphini would’ve fired her first, given her blood status and the fact that she played such a large role in Voldemort’s defeat.”

“Well, my dad said my mum’s Order of Merlin saved her. Given her title, even Delphini couldn’t do anything about it.” Rose said, before turning to her brother. “Right, Hugo?”

 Hugo nodded, chewing his food.

“Hagrid is still at Hogwarts also,” James added.

Andrew looked at his mother sympathetically.

“It’s alright, Mum,” he whispered. “You’ll be back at the Ministry as soon as Delphini is gone.”

“I know, Andrew. I’ll be fine.” Mrs Laird replied, smiling warmly, before turning to the others. “What did you write to them about?”

“We explained everything that happened, from Delphini kidnapping James and torturing Marigold,” Lily said, wiping her mouth with a napkin. “And we said that we want Delphini out of power and in Azkaban for what she did.”

“I’m not sure if it will make any difference - we’re only students, after all - but hopefully it will encourage the Ministry to give Delphini what she deserves, or at least let them know what they did to Marigold and James,” Rose added.

“I’m glad you did,” Sirius said. “Although it might not seem like much, you still played a role. What matters is that you did something to make a difference.”

Lorenzo listened to their conversation as he continued eating without saying a word; he knew, from a feeling in his gut, that another war was about to break out, and Hogwarts needed to be prepared.

In the study hall, Andrew, Louis, Albus, Rose, Scorpius, Lily and Hugo were gathered at a table, whispering to one another.

“So? How did it go?” Albus asked.

“Rose and I asked everyone in the Gryffindor team,” Andrew, who had replaced Marigold as the new Seeker, replied.

 “They all agreed,” Rose added.

“Victoire and I asked a few other Ravenclaws,” Louis added. “So far, we’ve only got William Chang.”

“So did Celeste Greengrass,” Scorpius added.

“Teddy and I also spoke with Daisy Dursley; she said she wants to join,” Lily added.

“Cosette Finnigan-Thomas and her brother Patrick also said yes,” Hugo added.

Lorenzo and James, who came back from the hospital wing, joined them.

“What did Madam Abbott say?” Scorpius asked.

“She says she thinks I’m getting better. “I haven’t had a nightmare in a week,” James replied, before turning to his brother. “Also, Perseus said he’ll join,”

 Albus nodded, satisfied.

 “Join what?” Lorenzo asked.

“We’ve been thinking of gathering a few others at Hogwarts to join our cause and let the entire wizarding world know what Delphini has done,” Albus replied. “I’ve been asking them to enlist more volunteers.”

“I think that’s brilliant,” Lorenzo said.

“We still haven’t got a proper meeting spot yet, though,” Rose said. “And because we have people from different houses, any of the common rooms isn’t an option.”

“What’s wrong with here?” James asked.

 “Alyssa Parkinson,” Scorpius replied.

“Yeah, I’m so sick of her eavesdropping on us in the Slytherin common room,” Albus added, rolling his eyes. “We need a more private area where we can discuss it more freely without being bothered.”

 “But where?” Lorenzo asked.

 Albus shrugged in response.

After visiting Marigold in the hospital wing, Lorenzo made his way back to Gryffindor Tower; his eyes were fixated on the Troll Tapestry, but his mind was elsewhere.

As Lorenzo mindlessly walked around back and forth in front of the wall against the tapestry, all he could think about was the fact that he and the others needed the perfect place where they could discuss their movement against Delphini, and possibly the start of another war, in private.

Suddenly, a door appeared on the wall. Confused, Lorenzo pulled out his wand, slowly opened the door and stepped inside.

The room was wide, with a chandelier on the ceiling. One of the walls was covered in stained glass windows, and in between the walls was a fireplace.

The next day, Lorenzo paid a visit to Harry in the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom.

“I haven’t seen you since you left the Auror Department,” Lorenzo said. “How have you been? How was your trip?”

“It was alright,” Harry replied. “But thinking back, I should’ve refused. Little did I know Delphini would kidnap my son while I was gone. I shouldn’t have let Marigold go through all of that.”

“We know Marigold, Harry; she’s strong, she’ll be alright,” Lorenzo assured him. “What’s it like teaching at Hogwarts?”

“It’s like being back home, even when some of the students, one of them being my own son, drive me mad,” Harry chuckled. “Were you looking forward to getting a job here at Hogwarts, perhaps?”

“I mean, it sounds nice, but I like being an Auror,” Lorenzo smiled, before turning serious. “I actually came here to ask about something else.”

 “Go on,”

“I came across a strange room in the seventh-floor corridor yesterday,” Lorenzo said. “It just suddenly appeared.”

“Was it a wide room with a fireplace like our common room, except it was blue and gold?” Harry asked.

 “How did you know?”

“Lorenzo, was there perhaps something on your mind when that room appeared?” Harry asked. “Something that you deeply wanted?”

“Well, Albus and the others said that they need a location where they can discuss their plans to persuade the Ministry to push Delphini out of power,” Lorenzo replied. “So I’ve been thinking we need somewhere secluded where we won’t be disrupted.

Harry thought for a moment, then snapped his fingers.

 “It’s the Room of Requirement,”

“The what? What is that?” Lorenzo asked, confused.

“It’s a secret room at Hogwarts that appears only when someone is desperately in need of something,” Harry replied. “I first found out about it in my fifth year thanks to Dobby.”

 “Who’s Dobby?”

“He was a house-elf who died saving my life,” Harry said, a somewhat painful expression on his face. “Anyways, I think Albus and the others can use some extra help. Would you mind telling Sirius, Teddy and Victoire to visit me?”

“Of course,” Lorenzo said. “But what for?”

“You’ll find out,” Harry said, his green eyes sparkling.
