The Unchosen One - A Harry Potter Story

When Marigold Lupin-Black, the daughter of Sirius Black and Remus Lupin, begins attending Hogwarts, she realises that pureblood supremacist ideologies still exist years after Lord Voldemort's defeat. The British wizarding world's fears come true once again when Delphini, the daughter of Lord Voldemort and Bellatrix Lestrange, seizes the position of Minister for Magic to "make the wizarding world great again" by expelling Muggles, Muggle-borns, squibs and werewolves, separating them from witches and wizards. Will Marigold be able to follow in her idol's footsteps, end Delphini's reign of terror and prove herself a true hero?

Chapter 41

“Here, I want you to take this,” Sirius said, handing Marigold a tiny glass bottle.

 “What is it?” she asked.

“It’s one of my memories,” he replied. “Go to the Headmistress’s office and ask Professor McGonagall if you can use the Pensieve. I really want you to see it.”

“Alright, I will. I better go now,” Marigold said, hugging him for the last time before boarding the Hogwarts Express.

Marigold, Scorpius and Louis got into a compartment with James, Albus, Lily, Rose, Hugo, Lorcan and Lysander.

“It’s too crowded in here,” Marigold said.

“Five people can stay here, and the other five can go to a different compartment,” Louis suggested.

 “I’ll go,” Lorcan said.

 “Me too,” Lysander added.

“I’ll go with you,” Lily added.

 “Same,” Hugo added.

Louis, Lorcan, Lysander, Lily and Hugo stood up to move to a different compartment as Marigold and Scorpius sat down with James, Albus and Rose.

They waved at the adults as the train departed the station.

“How does it feel starting your last year at Hogwarts?” Scorpius asked.

“Strange,” Marigold replied. “I can’t believe it’s almost over.”

“You said you wanted to go into the Ministry after you graduate, right?” Albus asked.

“Yeah, I’m gonna apply for a post at the Wizengamot over the summer, and hopefully I can move my way up from there until I become Minister for Magic.”

“Good luck,” Rose said. “And by the way, congratulations again to you and Louis for becoming Head Girl and Head Boy.”

 “Thanks,” Marigold replied.

“Uncle Sirius and Auntie Andy must’ve been proud,” Albus said. “When Mum and Dad got the owl, they were thrilled. Remember, James?”

James continued staring at Marigold, without saying a word.

 “James,” Scorpius tapped him.

“Wake up,” Rose waved a hand in front of his face.

“Sorry,” James finally came back to his senses.

“Are you alright?” Scorpius asked. “You seem worried or nervous about something.”

 James sighed.

“Goldie, there’s something I need to tell you,”

Marigold’s heart started pounding; she hoped that he would tell her that he changed his mind, that he felt the same way. Albus looked at his brother encouragingly.

 “I was wrong before,”

“Wrong about what?” she asked, confused.

 James blushed a deep red.

“Last year, when I told you that I didn’t want to be more than friends, I was lying,” he said. “The truth is that I really like you. I’ve liked you for a really long time, and I really wish we could be more than friends.”

A big smile spread across Marigold’s face as her heart started pounding faster, soaring like a phoenix into the sky.

“So yeah, I just wanted to tell you that,” James said, smiling shyly.

Marigold looked down at her shoes; her face flushed bright red and she couldn’t stop smiling. James giggled in response.

Scorpius smiled at Marigold, feeling genuinely happy for her, before turning to Rose.

 “Rose…”

“Malfoy, if you’re asking me the same question, the answer is no,” Rose shot back.

“That’s not what I was about to say,” Scorpius said, flushing.

Rose rolled her eyes, trying her best to suppress a smile. Scorpius looked at Albus, who smiled at him.

Albus, Rose and Scorpius turned their eyes to Marigold and James, who were staring into each others’ eyes, glowing with happiness.
