The British wizarding world's fears come true once again when Delphini, the daughter of Lord Voldemort and Bellatrix Lestrange, seizes the position of Minister for Magic to "make the wizarding world great again" by expelling Muggles, Muggle-borns, squibs and werewolves, separating them from witches and wizards. Will Marigold be able to follow in her idol's footsteps, end Delphini's reign of terror and prove herself a true hero?

37. Quidditch Cup

Chapter 37

During study hall, Marigold was telling Andrew and Scorpius what Professor Davies told her earlier that day.

“Is that so?” Andrew asked, horrified. “Parkinson’s mother killed your birth parents after Professor Davies left her?”

“He said so himself,” Marigold nodded.

“So who raised Parkinson then?” Scorpius asked.

“Her grandmother did,” she replied. “Apparently she’s just as awful, considering how Parkinson turned out.”

While they were talking, Sarah Beth Walker, a Hufflepuff from the year below Marigold, approached James, who was sitting with Albus, Rose, Lily and Hugo.

“I’ll look forward to seeing you play tomorrow.” Walker simpered sickeningly. “I know you’ll be great.”

 “Thanks,” James replied, confused.

Albus shook his head. Rose rolled her eyes at Walker. Lily and Hugo mimed vomiting onto their homework.

Even Marigold, Andrew and Scorpius were watching from a distance. It was like watching an accident; they didn’t want to look, but they couldn’t look away either.

“Oh, Merlin,” Scorpius covered his eyes.

Marigold felt something roaring in her chest; she became overwhelmed by the urge to hex Walker.

“Right, our match against Hufflepuff is tomorrow, isn’t it?” Andrew asked, trying to distract his friends.

“It’s the most important match of the year, Andrew,” Rose said.

“Whether we’ll win the Quidditch Cup or not all depends on this match,” James added.

Marigold remained as still as a statue.

 “Marigold?” Scorpius said.

 “Goldie?” Lily asked.

 “Are you alright?” Hugo added.

Marigold came back to her senses.

“Sorry, I was just thinking about the Quidditch match tomorrow.”

“Don’t be nervous, I know you’ll do great as always,” Scorpius assured her. “You’re the best Quidditch player in Hogwarts, after all.”

“Thanks,” Marigold tried to force a smile.

Madam Johnson blew her whistle. Marigold felt the burden of winning her house the glory of the Quidditch Cup weighing upon her as she soared into the air along with the thirteen other players.

“Go, James!” Walker shouted, ignoring the glares from the other Hufflepuffs.

Marigold glanced down, shooting her a piercing glare.

“I won’t lose to your house, no matter what.”

“Go, Marigold!” Scorpius, who was sitting with the Gryffindors, shouted.

Marigold felt a boost of confidence as she smiled down at Scorpius, who waved at her; she waved back at him.

“Woo-hoo!” Lorenzo, who was sitting with Sirius and Andromeda, cheered loudly.

 “Go, Marigold!” Sirius added.

“We believe in you!” Andromeda added.

The entire audience soon erupted into cheers.

 “Go, Lupin-Black!”

 “Go, Gryffindor!”

 “Go, Hufflepuff!”

In the midst of the cheers from the crowd, Madam Johnson opened the trunk and released the Quaffle into the air.

“The Quaffle is released and the game begins!” Andrew announced.

Marigold’s left hand trembled as her fingertips touched the tiny object fluttering above her head; her heart pounded as she grasped it tightly.

“Lupin-Black caught the Snitch!” Andrew announced. “Gryffindor wins the Quidditch Cup!”

 Madam Johnson blew her whistle.

 “Gryffindor wins!”

“Go, go, Gryffindor! Go, go, Gryffindor!”

In the midst of the cheering crowds was Marigold, swelling with pride as she held the Golden Snitch up high, even more so when she saw Madam Johnson carrying the large Quidditch cup in all its glory.

“This one’s for you, Miss Lupin-Black,” Madam Johnson smiled, handing her the trophy. “Congratulations.”

Marigold stuffed the Snitch in her pocket before graciously receiving the silver Quidditch cup, which radiated under the sun as she held it up high.

 “Woo-hoo!”

 “Lupin! Lupin! Lupin!”

“Thank you!” she smiled proudly at the audience, before looking at each of her fellow team members. “I would like to dedicate this to the Gryffindor Quidditch team: Georgina, James, Rose, Fred, Hercules and Noel. Without any of you, it wouldn’t have been possible.”

 “Go Gryffindor!” Fred hollered.

“Woo-hoo!” Hercules circled around the pitch.

“You’re the best, Marigold!” Rose exclaimed.

The other players also began cheering and clapping as Marigold’s eyes met James’s; a wide smile spread across their faces.

James felt butterflies fluttering in his stomach; it felt nice to see Marigold smiling at him again. For him, Marigold’s smile felt even sweeter than Gryffindor’s glorious victory.

As she proudly held up the Quidditch cup, Marigold looked around at the audience: her family, her friends and everyone at Hogwarts. They were all congratulating the Gryffindor team, and most of all, their Seeker: no one other than Marigold Lupin-Black herself.

Marigold felt her heart swell with pride and emotion; before she knew it, she burst into tears of joy as the crowd continued their cheers.
