The Unchosen One - A Harry Potter Story

When Marigold Lupin-Black, the daughter of Sirius Black and Remus Lupin, begins attending Hogwarts, she realises that pureblood supremacist ideologies still exist years after Lord Voldemort's defeat. The British wizarding world's fears come true once again when Delphini, the daughter of Lord Voldemort and Bellatrix Lestrange, seizes the position of Minister for Magic to "make the wizarding world great again" by expelling Muggles, Muggle-borns, squibs and werewolves, separating them from witches and wizards. Will Marigold be able to follow in her idol's footsteps, end Delphini's reign of terror and prove herself a true hero?

11. Durmstrang

Chapter 11

Marigold, Andrew, David and James noticed Delphini cornering a Durmstrang student who looked as though she couldn't be older than twelve.

"If you're from Durmstrang, you must know some Dark Arts!" Delphini demanded. "Sure you can teach me some!"

The Durmstrang girl shook her head. It seemed like Delphini was making her uncomfortable, and even afraid and threatened.

"Diggory, what are you doing?" Marigold confronted her.

"Who even are you?" Delphini scoffed. "Aren't you the girl who always hangs out with Potter?"

"Yes, that's me. Marigold Lupin-Black. I believe Edward Lupin, the Head Boy who also happens to be my brother, has already told you about me?"

"Well, Lupin-Black, do you want me to put your knees on backwards? I'm sure your Head Boy brother wouldn't want you annoying me, the Head Girl, would he?"

Delphini pulled out her wand and pointed it at Marigold; she waved it, but nothing happened.

"Why isn't this thing working?" she complained.

"Oh, I don't know, maybe because it's fake?" James said sarcastically.

"What do you mean, Potter?"

"I replaced your wand with a fake one," he smirked. "You're welcome."

"What?!" Delphini shrieked. "Where's my wand, then? You better tell me, you little brat!"

"If you're so smart, why don't you find it yourself?" James quipped, trying hard to suppress his laughter.

"Ugh, Potter! I'll get you for this!" Delphini stormed away angrily.

"Good luck!" James called out, sticking his tongue out at her.

Marigold, Andrew, David and James all started laughing at Delphini; even the Durmstrang girl joined in.

"Are you okay?" David asked her.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Danke," she said. "I mean, thank you."

"You're Anna Müller, aren't you?" James asked. "You're in some of my classes!"

"Yes, I remember you," Anna said. "And you're James Potter. Harry Potter's son."

"Yeah, that's me," he said proudly.

"And what was your name? Marigold?" Anna asked.

Marigold smiled and nodded.

"Thanks again for defending me earlier. Really, thank you so much."

"No problem!" Marigold said.

"Anna, would you like to sit with us later?" Andrew asked.

"Oh, I'm not sure," she said. "I usually sit with the Slytherins. I promised Celeste that I would sit with her."

"Celeste is my friend too," Marigold said. "I can ask her later, or even better, ask her to join us,"

During lunch, Marigold, Andrew, James, David, Celeste and Anna all sat together at the Gryffindor table. Alyssa Parkinson's group glared at them from the Slytherin table.

"Wait, so your parents are non-magical?" Anna asked David, surprised. "Are there a lot of people like you at Hogwarts?"

"I would assume so," Marigold said. "Since 25% of the wizarding community are Muggle-borns."

"Do they not allow Muggle-borns at Durmstrang?" Celeste asked.

Anna shook her head.

"Really?" Andrew asked, astonished. "Durmstrang doesn't allow Muggle-borns? How can they do that?"

"That's also how Salazar Slytherin wanted Hogwarts," Marigold remembered. "Salazar didn't want to accept Muggle-borns into our school either."

"No way," Andrew said.

"So you're telling me that if Slytherin had gotten his way, I wouldn't be here right now?" David was just as shocked.

Marigold nodded her head; she started shaking as she digested what Anna had just told them about Durmstrang. Marigold couldn't believe there was someone as hateful as the founder of Durmstrang who wanted to deny a certain group's right to learn, segregate them and worst of all, succeeded in doing so.

"Do you think someone in our wizarding world might want to segregate Muggle-borns?" James whispered to her.
