Herbology is the study and use of mundane and magical plants, for medicinal, protective or educational purposes.

Uses : 
- recognizing the wood of a wand can help choosing a spell in duels
- not confusing plants that have different effects
- being aware of toxicity hazards

mundane = non-magical

Equipment :
- protection : dragon-hide gloves, earmuffs and wand
- ingredients : dragon dung, mooncalf dung and centaur tears
- recommended : dittany for wounds
- clothes : closed toes shoes, apron, gloves and mask (if dangerous fumes/scents)

Dragon dung : used as fertilizer and compost. Breaks down materials due to acids of dragon stomach (used to digest what the dragon ingests). Has no scent (not confirmed : because all odorous gases are used by the dragon to make fire)

Mooncalf dung : fertilizer. Softer than dragon dung and less powerful (may not be powerful enough)

Centaur tears : used to water plants. More nutritive than regular water (can revive an almost dead plant). Must be obtained with centaur agreement (not by stealth !). Centaurs use them to take care of the nature surrounding them.

Hello ! My name is Alyss Delaney. I am a half-blood witch : my father is a Muggle. My gift would be my imagination. I read a lot of books and I also like to write stories. I like to think that it also helps me to better understand people, as I try to imagine why they act the way they do. I don't know if it really contributes to my environment, but I try to be as least judgmental as possible.

For me, herbology is getting to know each plant's "personality", how to take care of them, and how they can be used. I was never really good at taking care of plants, so I hope this class will help me to get greener thumbs ! There are some lilies in my parents garden ; I think it's one of the most beautiful plants. My elder brothers have told me about the mandrake, which they studied in Hogwarts some years ago, so I have some knowledge about this plant. My mother has some magical plants growing in the garden, but she doesn't want me to help her until I've had a proper training. Hopefuly, next summer I will be able to assist her !
