You decide to invite Tom to Hogwarts, but you keep an eye on him. He turns out to be a brilliant student and a charismatic figure, charming teachers and fellow students alike. In his fifth year he becomes a Slytherin prefect. That year, someone opens the Chamber of Secrets and a Muggle-born girl is killed by a monster that escaped from the chamber. Riddle puts the blame on a third-year student, Rubeus Hagrid, and his pet acromantula Aragog. Everyone except you believes Riddle's story; so Hagrid is expelled.
As you suspected, Riddle soon begins to take an obsessive interest in the dark arts, an interest he inspires in his many followers among the students in Slytherin House. Soon he has acquired a new identity as Lord Voldemort, and his followers pride themselves in their new identity as Death Eaters.
He graduates with top honours from Hogwarts and takes a job with Burgin and Borkes.
Meanwhile, your estranged friend and lover Gellert Grindelwald has been gathering followers and implementing his plan to enslave the Muggles. You feel that it is your duty to stop him before he succeeds. On the other hand, you are still carrying a torch for him and you are reluctant to engage him in combat.
