History of Magic Lesson 1:

I am a first year but the first course I finished was history of magic. The first lesson just talked about the classroom procedure, about herself, and an intro to history (usually I will go over the lesson more but for the first lesson I will not).

The first thing of homework you have is an essay on the importance of history. It was a long time ago that I took it but I believe it was timed. The essay prompt was this:

Explain to me in a maximum of three paragraphs why the study of history is important to you.
Also explain why people should take history classes, or why you think
students are forced to take history. Use evidence from your book or your
knowledge of magical history to support your stance. Keep a strong
central thought and please be sure to make references to our world.
Muggle world history is interesting, but this is History of Magic. Do
not spend more than 30 mins. on this assignment.

I highlighted some important things that you are going to want to keep in mind. Such as maximum of three paragraphs. I would say this is a pretty easy assignment because there is no word count. If you're a person who like to write a lot and you go over three paragraphs try to cut out some stuff that doesn't relate to the stuff I highlighted in the blue. And again if you need some help with this or something else feel free to owl me!

The second thing I highlighted was you. It is very important that you write your essay saying why history is important to you. I know some people who just wrote why history is important, and I can tell you that you will get points off for that.

The third thing I highlighted was make references to our world. That is very important! For my essay I got points off for not making enough references. If you can't think of any then try looking through the textbook or referencing to the Harry Potter books.

The last thing highlighted in yellow is the time. 30 minutes can seem like a lot but it goes by fast and if you want everything to be perfect and get 100% than write it before hand. You can even ask a friend to revise it for you than once you are done, copy & paste it in to the assignment.

These questions are easy enough so there is not too much to study. I encourage you not use any other sources for quiz's because they are quiz's after all you should have been studying.
