The Saturday after we tried to flush the diary, Ginny ran up to me.  "I looked inside the bathroom the other day, and it was gone!  I don't know what happened to it, but I haven't attacked anyone and nothing big happened!"  I cheered.  "I think the Chamber of Secrets has officially closed!"  Ginny grinned.  "Hip, hip hooray!"  We yelled.  A couple of second years looked our way.  Ginny blushed.  I whispered, "Hip, hip hooray, heh, heh."

On Valentine's day, I ran to the Great Hall with Ginny and we froze when we opened the doors.  The walls were covered with large pink flowers.  Heart-shaped confetti sprinkled from the blue ceiling, and fell in our hair.  All of the teachers were looking stony-faced, all except for Professor Lockhart, who was wearing pink robes matching the flowers on the walls, waving for silence.  Ginny and I sat down, and everyone was so disgusted at the Gryffindor table, they never noticed a Hufflepuff sitting there.  

"Happy Valentine's Day!"  Lockhart yelled.  "And may I thank the forty-six people who have so far sent me cards! Yes, I have taken the liberty of arranging this little surprise for you all - and it doesn't end here!"  The Professor clapped his hands, and into the room marched 12 dwarfs wearing wings and holding harps.  Ginny giggled. 

"My friendly, card-carrying cupids!  They will be roving around the school today delivering your valentines! And the fun doesn't stop here! I'm sure my colleagues will want to enter into the spirit of the occasion! Why not ask Professor Snape to show you how to whip up a Love Potion! And while you're at it, Professor Flitwick knows more about Entrancing Enchantments than any wizard I've ever met, the sly old dog!"  Flitwick's face was buried in his hands.  Snape's lip curled in hatred.  

He sat down and Ginny grabbed some bacon and eggs.  I grabbed some pancakes and piled syrup all over it.  After a long pause of eating, Ginny said, "Do you think I should send a valentine to Harry.  Here's how I'm thinking it should go."  She sang in a sing-song voice, "His eyes are as green as a toad, his hair is as dark as a chalkboard.  I wish he was mine, he's really divine, the one who defeated you-know-who."  I applauded, then said, "I think you should add a bit more to it.  Like this.  His eyes are as green as a fresh pickled toad, his hair is as dark as a blackboard.  I wish he was mine, he's really divine, the hero who conquered the Dark Lord."  Ginny said, "That's a good idea.  I'll think about it..."  

She sat for a minute or two while I grabbed some more pancakes and stuffed my mouth.  Ginny yelled to a dwarf, "Oy, you!  Yeah, you!  I got a message for you to send!"  The dwarf came over, looking quite surly.  Ginny said, "Um, er, Tess, can you say it, please?"  I swallowed the food and said in a sing-song voice, "His eyes are as green as a fresh-pickled toad, his hair is as black as a blackboard.  I wish he was mine, he's really divine, the hero who conquered the Dark Lord.  Deliver the musical message to him in person."  

I ate some more pancake.  The dwarf stared.  I realized I hadn't said who it was to.  "His to 'Arty Potter."  I said with my mouth full.  Ginny said, "Wait!  His name's Harry Potter, not 'Arty-"  The dwarf was already gone.  Ginny looked at me.  "I sure hope it's said to Harry, not 'Arty!"  We burst out laughing.
