Tess Falcon; First Year At Hogwarts {Finished Book}

written by Faye Chuchoter

Nonoahohay Falcon was not a normal person. Normal people aren't born with a wizard for a dad and a mermaid for a mum, witches that get invited to a magical school, get a wand at a wizarding shop, have a godmother that can change her looks at will, can't talk to snakes or are related to the greatest known Dark wizard of all time. Nonoahohay (or Tess) has no idea of the challenges and hardships she will face as she goes through her first year at Hogwarts.

The Two Letters

Chapter 2

I looked at the letter strangely.  What was an owl doing in my room?  Was I seeing things?  I hoped not.  The letter was written in green ink.  I read:

"You are different from other people.  It is not a good kind of different.  You are Voldemort's niece and the Weasleys are your cousins, but neither of them know it.  Your family is the only connection between both pureblood families.  When you turn 11, you will know.  I wish you luck in your future years."

I had no idea what pureblood means, or who the Weasleys or Voldemort is.  I figured it was just a prank.  But I'm home schooled by Mrs. Hubirta, and I don't really know who would prank me.  Anyways, if it was a prank, then wouldn't they have sent it from mail, not owl?  Wait... they probably didn't want my parents to read it.  But they must have spent YEARS training that owl just to get to my bedroom window, right?  The more I thought about it, the more confused I got.

Then I heard footsteps coming up the stairs.  Without thinking, I put the letter in my secret place, stepped out of it, and said, "Close Sesame."  I ran over to my bed, and got there right when Granny opened my bedroom door.  She said, "Now, let's do your hair."  I shook my head and said, "Nah, mum already did it."  She started giving me a lecture about how mums are horrible when it comes to hair, when my mum rescued me by yelling, "Tess, come here for a moment!"

I ran down the stairs once more.  My nickname was Tess, because my name was just WAY to long.  She told me to enter her office once I knocked on her office door.  There was Mrs. Hubirta, sitting in one of the two chairs facing the desk my mum had occupied.  I took a seat next to my teacher.  My mum said, "Look, this may be a shock to you, but, well, just read this letter."  She pointed to a letter on her desk.  The letter had the same green ink as the "prank" one.  I took the letter from her hands and started to read it.

The letter told me I would be going to this magical school called Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.  There was another paper behind it, saying all of the stuff I need.  At the bottom of the page, there was a note.  It said:

A muggle-born or a witch/wizard raised by muggles will have a witch/wizard to help you with your shopping and answer all of your questions.

I had a lot of questions.  The main one is:  How, when, and where are we going to get the stuff on the second paper, and they do look really expensive.  Then I heard a knock on the door.  I rose to get it.  My mum said, "Wait, Tess!"  I replied grumpily, "What?"  "Well, do you want to go to Hogwarts?  I was having a conversation with Mrs. Hubirta, to see if it was OK with her."  "Is it?"  "Yes, but I want to know if you want to."  I thought.  If I go to this "magical" school, then I don't have to be home schooled, and I can learn magic!  "Yes!" I said without hesitation.  "I'd love to!"  Then there was another knock on the door.  I went to answer it.  There was a girl standing there with pink hair.  She said, "Wotcher, Nonoahohay."  I told her my name was Tess.
