Tess Falcon; First Year At Hogwarts {Finished Book}

written by Faye Chuchoter

Nonoahohay Falcon was not a normal person. Normal people aren't born with a wizard for a dad and a mermaid for a mum, witches that get invited to a magical school, get a wand at a wizarding shop, have a godmother that can change her looks at will, can't talk to snakes or are related to the greatest known Dark wizard of all time. Nonoahohay (or Tess) has no idea of the challenges and hardships she will face as she goes through her first year at Hogwarts.

Catching Up On Old Times

Chapter 16

I opened my eyes.  Where was I?  Looking, around, I saw that I was in a deep, dark forest.  It looked like how I'd imagine the Forbidden Forest looks like.  Looking around, I saw someone hidden in the trees.  "Show yourself!"  I said, more bravely than I felt.  They stepped forwards.  I gasped.  It was a serpent with long, poisonous fangs.  It hissed, but I couldn't understand it.  "What?"  It hissed again, but then a figure hidden in the brush said, "It's telling you something.  Listen with your heart.  Believe that you can hear it."  I asked, "Who are you?"  But the figure was already gone.  I listened to my heart, and some strange feeling spread over me.  I looked at the serpent and it spoke.  "Hello, Massster."  I understood him!  "Who are you?  Who was that figure?  Where am I?  And I'm not your master!"  I realized I spoke a different language.  The snake opened its mouth to speak, but Ginny's face appeared in some bush and she spoke.  "Tess, Tess!  Wake up!"  The serpent rose up and aimed to strike at Ginny.  I screamed.  "NO!"

I sat up in a soft bed, gasping for breath.  Ginny looked at me nervously.  "Tess, are you OK?"  I groaned.  It hurt to move, and I wished I hadn't sat up.  I felt horrible pain all over my body, but mainly my face.  Madam Pomfrey rushed in the room, and I realized that I was in the hospital wing.  "Oh, my dear!  You need rest!  Lay down!  You are using up the energy you've been gaining!"  She softly pushed me back to a lying position.  I asked Ginny, "What happened?"  I could barely speak, and my voice was all croaky and hoarse.  It hurt to talk.  She frowned.  "Well, everyone gathered around Harry, because he broke his arm, which I think you know, and so Professor Lockhart tried, but failed to fix his arm."

She giggled, and, seeing my puzzled face, said, "He accidentally removed all of the bones in his arm.  Anyways, right after that happened, George ran over and yelled, 'Ginny!  I think your friend's hurt!  Bad, Ginny it's real bad.'  He told us how he looked at you and lost his hold on the bludger, and you were hit in the face with it.  You were out cold and Madam Pomfrey said you'd broken your cheekbone, jaw, and some other bones with hard-to-remember names.  Your jaw and cheeks were ripped open, and you were a horrible sight.  You were losing large amounts of blood, and worse could have happened if not for Draco Malfoy."  I wasn't sure if I heard her correctly.  "Draco Malfoy?!"  I croaked.  She nodded.

"He ran off and told all of the teachers about what happened, and then he helped you to the hospital wing.  He's been by your bedside every moment he could.  Madam Pomfrey said you should only have one visitor at a time, so this is one of the first times I get to see you.  Loads of other people have visited, like Sarah Reed, Quinn Stalkin, Rebecca Mosessah, Hannah Spices, Abigail Wright, and some of the teachers even came!"  She showed me a large pile of presents, cards, and treats on my bedside table.  "Everyone misses you.  But I reckon Draco's got a crush on you."  She grinned.  I blushed crimson.

She continued.  "Meanwhile, you missed our flying lesson.  That was a big bummer, because it was really fun.  You've also missed 2 more attacks!  One happened the night you got injured.  Colin Creevy was petrified.  Then Harry was found by a double attack.  Nwarly Headless Nick, the Gryffindor ghost and a Hufflepuff boy named Justin Finch-Fletchley.  It was crazy!  Also you missed a Dueling Club, which was really quite pathetic.  The teachers said your homework won't have to be done because your sick.  That means you get a big penalty from lessons and school.  I'm so jealous.  You're lucky!"

Ginny suddenly jumped up.  "I've gotta go!  It's almost nine!  See ya!"  She left, and I fell asleep restlessly after a while, waking up a lot that night because of the pain.
