Tess Falcon; First Year At Hogwarts {Finished Book}

written by Faye Chuchoter

Nonoahohay Falcon was not a normal person. Normal people aren't born with a wizard for a dad and a mermaid for a mum, witches that get invited to a magical school, get a wand at a wizarding shop, have a godmother that can change her looks at will, can't talk to snakes or are related to the greatest known Dark wizard of all time. Nonoahohay (or Tess) has no idea of the challenges and hardships she will face as she goes through her first year at Hogwarts.

What'S Quidditch?

Chapter 13

The next day I told Ginny all about what happened.  She said, "YOU met Harry Potter?!"  I sad, "Ummmmm, ya."  "I reckon mum won't be to happy with Ron.  First they flew our car-"  I interrupted, "You mean drove, not flew."  "No.  I meant flew.  We have a flying Ford Angela.  But of course you know the story."  I shook my head.  She said, "No?  Well, we were getting to the Hogwarts Express, when they just decided to run off and fly the car to Hogwarts.  Bet they wanted to make an impressive entrance."

She laughed.  "Well, that ultimately failed.  First, they were seen by 7 muggles!  Then they crashed into the Womping Willow.  The Womping Willow is a tree on the Hogwarts grounds.  It's branches whip out and hit you.  HARD.  Mum said that when she was a kid at Hogwarts, they used to play games around it, like who can get closest to the tree.  Mum said it stopped when a boy lost an eye."

"So when Harry and Ron crashed into that tree, the car got way damaged, and Ron's wand snapped.  Did you hear that Howler?  You know, the screaming letter?  Ya, mum sent that to them.  They also got detention for a really long time."  Ginny flipped her hair back.  I asked her, "Um, Filch said Harry knew he was a Squib.  What's a Squib?"  Ginny laughed.  "Well, it isn't that funny, but seeing Filch as one..."  She giggled.  "A Squib is the opposite of a Muggle-born witch or wizard.  They can't do magic, and they're in a wizarding family.  Think of it as a Muggle born from a witch and wizard."

Harry passed us, and Ginny blushed.  Then a small boy that looked about our age ran after him, yelling, "Harry!  Oy, Harry Potter!  Can I take a picture of you?  HARRY!  Wait up!  Can you even sign it?  I want a signed photo!  I want a signed photo!  I want a signed photo!"

I sad, "Who's that?"  Ginny answered, "Oh, him.  That's Colin Creevy.  He is OBSESSED with Harry Potter.  Literally.  Every time he sees Harry, he tries to take a photo of him.  He even wants Harry to sign it!  Fred and George tease me about how I should be his girlfriend because we both like, OK, LOVE Harry Potter.  I hate him!  He annoys Harry a lot, probably."  She flipped her hair back and mimed taking a photo, saying in a high-pitched voice, "Harry, can I have a signed photo?  Harry, I'm starting a fan club about you!  Harry, do you want to be the Guest of Honor?  Harry, Harry, HARRY!"

I laughed.  Ginny said, "Besides, he should have enough amazing photos to last a lifetime when he sees Griffindor's Quidditch match this week, if Ron's correct in telling me that Harry is AWESOME at Quidditch.  Harry is the youngest Seeker in a century!  He is also one of the best there ever was, according to Ron."  She rolled her eyes.  "Ron never tells the truth, so..."

I stared at her.  "What's Quidditch?  What's a Seeker?  What does a Seeker do?  Why didn't anyone tell me there's a Quidditch match this week?  Why didn't anyone tell me about Quidditch?!"  Ginny looked surprised, then said, "what?  Oh, right!  I keep forgetting you were raised by Muggles!  Yeah...  Quidditch is a popular wizarding sport.  VERY popular.  Like, everyone knows about it.  There are lots of players.  Gee, this is hard to explain.  Well, you'll see this week at least."
