I could not believe my eyes. At first, they did not turn to look in the direction that Amanda Cooper and I were standing. “Those two seem like nice people,” Amanda said. “Those two kind people are my parents,” I said in a quiet voice. “Don’t be ridiculous!” Amanda said “Your mom and dad are in the hotel room”. “No” I said “ I mean my real, lawful parents”. “WHAT!!!!!” Amanda said “I thought they were dead-I mean they disappeared.” “I thought the same thing but apparently not” I said “ But we can’t be sure I don’t just want to run and hug a random person that would be weird and super embarrassing.” As I said that I saw something that made me know that it was my mom and dad. You see mom has this tattoo of the sign of the cross on her arm and when my mom lifted her arm to point at a plant I could see that tattoo clearly. As soon as I saw that tattoo I ran as fast as my legs could go. At first, both Amanda and my parents were confused but as I ran towards my parents I think they recognized me and opened up their arms to hug me. I finally arrived at the maple tree and I leaped into my mom’s arms. As I felt her arms wrapped tight around my back I felt a feeling that I would never forget. I felt happy but not just any happy feeling I felt absolute joy. And before it tears were running down my face. Amanda was standing on the side when I started hugging my dad. “Oh,baby” my mom said “ Oh my darling baby.” The next half an hour I was talking to my parents about everything I have done and then I asked a question I had ever since they left I asked: “Why did you go?” ”Oh, baby” my dad said “ We did not purposefully leave you”. “Remember when your mom and I had a romantic weekend”. “Yeah” I said, remembering vividly how mom and dad wanted to go for a romantic weekend and how my step-mom and my step-dad were babysitting me for the weekend. “Well when we came back from our romantic weekend we went back to Washington,D.C. but when we came back we heard the news that there was a fire in the area. When we heard the news we came to the house immediately and we saw that the house was burned to the ground. We went everywhere, sweetie, we asked the police department but when we couldn't find you we decided to look for you everywhere we looked in: Rome, China, Europe, Canada, and now Colorado.” “We evacuated the house” I said “When we heard about the fire we evacuated immediately.” The whole day I spent talking with my parents. When my step-mom and step-dad saw my parents they went crazy. We had a nice lunch and dinner and still to this day I cannot believe that my parents are alive.
