In this book I am going to publish all my 1st year charm notes. This book is not a substitute for lessons. English is not my first language so it is very likely that I have some spelling and grammar mistakes. If you don't like this, I don't recommend that you read it. If you don't mind let's get started. Week 2 (Spellcasting Basics)
Chapter 2
THE SOURCE OF YOUR MAGIC
Squib: son of magicians without magical ability, but can detect magical activity or use magical devices.
Muggle-born - Muggle-born to multiple generations of magical heritage who possesses magical abilities.
BLOOD STATUS:
- Pure blood: witches and wizards without Muggles in their bloodline.
- Mixed blood: witch or wizard with a magical and a non-magical or muggle parent,
- Mudblood: Muggle-born witch or wizard.
SPELL CASTING COMPONENTS:
The charm: the correct pronunciation must be said, otherwise in the best of cases nothing will happen, in the worst, disaster could occur. Some very advanced magicians may not need to say the charm.
The movement of the wand: It helps with the charm to shape the spell. As in the charm, the wand may not be needed, but it is very complicated and requires a lot of practice.
Willpower: It is the mental impulse that your magic projects and gives a spell the power it needs to work.
Concentration: is to visualize your magic and the effect you want it to cause.
FLIGHT SPELLS
- HOVER CHARM
Charm: Levioso (Lev-ee-O-so)
Wand movement: pointed spiral inward and then an upward movement
Willpower: Moderate; it depends on the weight of the object to be lifted.
Concentration: none
- ROCKET CHARM
Charm: Alarte Ascendare (A-lar-tay a-SEN-day-ray)
Wand movement: Quick swish (movement with a rushing hiss or sound).
Willpower: High; depends on how high the object will rise before falling
Concentration: None
-FLOATING CHARM
Charm: Fluito (floo-EE-toe)
Wand movement: Jab (quick wand strike) and then upward movement
Willpower: High to very high depending on target weight and distance
Concentration: Moderate; must be kept on the object to be lifted
- LEVITATION CHARM
Charm: Wingardium Leviosa (win-GAR-dee-um levi-O-sa)
Wand movement: Swish and flick (quick and sudden movement)
Willpower: Low; Visualize the energy in your body reaching toward the object and lifting it up.
Concentration: moderate; It depends on what you want to levitate.
