Lotus and Ava on the Train to Hogwarts Start Of 5th Year
Chapter 2
Ava Riversmith is Lotus's best friend and a fellow witch at Hogwarts. This is set in Harry Potter's era and 3 years ahead of Harry. Ava is the Ravenclaw seeker instead of Cho and is "with" Cedric instead of Cho as well. Lotus is in a relationship with Ernie MacMillan.
Lotus walked across the Platform toward the train. She was reading a letter from Ava, saying she saved her a compartment on the train. "Okay," Lotus mumbled to herself, walking onto the train. She steps into the compartment, smiling. "Hey, Ava."
Ava moved her stuff off the other seat so Lotus could sit. “Hi! You got my letter!” she said happily.
Lotus sat down. "Yeah, I did. Thanks for saving me a seat!" she replied happily.
"Of course," Ava said with a grin. "So...how was your summer? I want to hear all about it. It was quite eventful for me, but you go first" she urged
"It's a long description. Do you want the short version?" she asked.
“Yes please!” Ava said enthusiastically, leaning forward slightly
Lotus smiled, taking a deep breath. "Okay, so I went on vacation to America with Willow most of the summer. I went to South Florida for a week, which is really quite humid and crowded. Then, I took a tour of St. Augustine, which was interesting to say the least. Then, I went to Orlando and went to Universal Studios for 3 days. I'll show you the pictures once you finish telling me about your summer. After that, I spent the rest of the summer until August 1st in The Bronx. I got back to England on August 2nd. All I did once I got back was study some of the course material and buy all my supplies. I practiced a bit of quidditch techniques, but didn't really do too much with that." She sighed. "That's it, now how was your summer?" she asked,
“Not nearly as adventurous as yours from the sound of it.” Ava said with a grin. “I went to the Quidditch world cup, which was spectacular. And then me and dad went to Amsterdam for a bit for his work before coming back here. But guess what?” she said, giggling as she got ready to share the gossip
"What?" Lotus said, leaning in.
“Fred Weasley asked me out this summer,” she giggled. “I think it might’ve been a dare. I said no...but still. Crazy right?” she teased
Lotus giggles, "When have you known Fred Weasley to be the receiver of a dare?" she asks.
Ava grinned. “If he did, you’d never see him turn it down. Anyway, I just said I wanted to be friends, which he was fine with. That was the most interesting thing that happened all summer”
"The most interesting thing for me this summer was staying in a hotel unsupervised near Universal with Willow. We did some things." Lotus laughed.
“Oooo fancy” Ava said, raising her eyebrows at Lotus. “Sounds like a lot of fun! Excited for this school year?”
"Yeah, very. How about you?" Lotus asks.
“Totally! I’m so excited, mostly for Quidditch, but also the higher level classes.” Ava said with a nod
"I agree. Can you believe the Quidditch World Cup this year? My mom was there, and livestreamed it to Willow and I in Florida. I wish I was there, it was so much better than the one we had the year before." Lotus said with a smile.
“What is ‘live-streamed’?” Ava asked confusedly. She had gotten to go to the cup, it was amazing, but was confused at the word Lotus said
"It means that she recorded it and I could watch it as she was recording." Lotus said. "She was showing me it from her phone."
“Oh” Ava said, sitting back, still a bit confused. “Oh ok”
"You sound confused. This is my smartphone..." Lotus said, handing Ava her phone. "You can text, call, and take photos or record videos on it, among other things. It's like she broadcasts a video she's recording to me as she records it."
Ava looked at the phone in wonder. "I'm guessing it doesn't work at school though. All muggle devices go haywire when you approach. There is too much magic in the air" she said, handing it back to Lotus. "I think my mum told me about telephones. You know, she was a muggle born"
"Yeah, you told me she was first year. Devices that are powered by electricity don't work at school, but I charmed this phone to work off of dragon blood, so it works at school." Lotus said.
"How the h*ll does it work off of dragon blood? Anyway, what's the use. No one else has one, so who would you communicate with?" Ava asked
"It works on dragon blood because it has an unlimited amount of magic, therefore creates its own flow and energy similar to electricity. I can use it to text my family and all my muggle friends so they aren't suspicious of my being a witch." Lotus replies.
“Oh” Ava said, giving the phone an odd look. She was surprised Dumbledore let Lotus keep it
"So, what do you want from the Trolley?" Lotus asks as the trolley witch approaches.
“Hmm...” She looked before standing up and getting a few licorice wands, Bertie botts, and some chocolate frogs for them to share
Lotus hands the trolley witch a few galleons. "Bye, ma'am. You have a wonderful day." she said to the witch before sitting back down in her seat.
Ava tossed over a chocolate frog. “So, wanna play a game?” she asked
"Sure, what's the game?" Lotus replies.
“Do you know how to play Kiss Marry Kill?” Ava asked, looking mischievous
"Yeah, of course." Lotus replied.
“Ok...you go first. Ask me” she said smiling broadly
"Okay," Lotus replied. "Fred, Ernie, and Cedric."
Ava bit her lip, concentrating as she thought. “Kiss Fred, Marry Cedric, Kill Ernie. Although I feel bad about that” she said laughing
"Ouch, poor Ernie." Lotus replied, laughing. "Okay, now you ask me."
