Chapter Ten: The Cave

Chapter 10
Okay, so it may have been a while, so here’s a recap. Yes, I found another stone, yes, Eloise is still mad at us, and yes, we got sucked into a rock and discovered a cave full of…
“Oh my god.” I said again. I gaped at the wide cave and everything that filled it. Anne squealed. I walked farther in the cave. Now you are probably screaming in your head, ‘Tell me what is in the cave!’ So, here you go.
“More stones!” I marveled. There were more stones. And not just purplish-black. Blue-black, yellow-black, and every other color of the rainbow. Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and more purple! There must have been a hundred or two hundred of each color rock!
“Oh wow! Ohh…..WOW!” We both screamed. We ran around the cave, examining each color rock. They were all a color of the rainbow mixed with black.
“Anne, they’re beautiful!” I sighed in excitement. “I’m gonna pick one up!” Anne looked afraid.
“Remember, nothing happened last time!” I reassured her. “This time will be no different.” I looked at the rocks, different colors, shapes, and sizes. Some were round and smooth, and others were tall and jagged, some were so tiny, and others were almost the size of an apple! I reached towards a blue and black stone. It was about the size of a strawberry, like the second purple stone I found. My fingers tingled.
“Are you cursed?” Anne urged. I laughed.
“Yes.” I said in a deep voice. “I have been cursed by this very beautiful yet very eeeevil stone!” Anne shrieked but laughed. I reached out my arms in a zombie-like stance and moaned. We both laughed.
“Okay, so the blue turns you into a zombie and purple makes you suspiciously excited about it.” Anne joked. We both laughed, but our laughter died out.
“Anne, we discovered a cave full of the most beautiful rocks! A thousand of them! And all by accident when we….got sucked into a rock.” I said softly.
“Speaking of which….how do we get out?” Anne wondered.
“I haven’t thought of that.” I muttered.
“Maybe we pressed something.” Anne suggested. We walked all around the wall behind us, the one that we came out of. We pressed our hands on every square inch, on curves and holes, every nook and cranny. We must’ve pressed every spot twice.
“This isn’t working. We obviously didn’t press something.” I muttered, sighing. “Well, let’s go over everything we did. So first, you went behind the ivy, and I told you your hair was sticking out. Then, I came behind it too, and-”
“And I asked if you still had the rock” Anne interrupted.
“And I did have it.” I remembered. “Then, you said, too bad we didn’t have the other stone-AHHHH!” I fell backwards again, and so did Anne. The rock still felt like molasses, and I felt like a nail being pulled to a magnet through honey. We finally came out of the rock. That was an understatement. We were spit out of the rock. We both fell on the ground, groaning.
“OWWwww…” Anne complained.
“What triggered it?” I complained, getting up. I brushed the dirt out of my hair, and pushed away the ivy that was all in my face. I stepped out from behind the ivy into the setting sun. The setting sun?!
“Anne! We’ve been out here for hours! We have to get back!” I yelled. “My parents are gonna kill me! I’m dead! I’m dead, I’m dead! Ohhh, goodbye, Anne! Say goodbye, and hello to a life without your best friend! Deeeaaad!” I sobbed. Anne rolled her eyes.
“Anne, you’re not dead! But you know what you are? Oh-ver-re-acting!” She stated each part of the word loudly and clearly. “Overreacting! But if we get back now, we can sneak into our houses! Our parents probably haven’t looked there yet! Come on!” Anne exclaimed.
“Okay….dead...coming!” I sob-sighed. Anne pulled me along.
“Anne?” I said softly.
“Yeah, Kate?” She answered. “Beehive…”
“Will you make sure to come to my funeral? And make sure they put out yellow daffodils.” Anne rolled her eyes, and didn’t answer.
“Yellow...not orange.” I repeated. Anne looked over at me.
“They aren’t gonna kill you...if you hurry up! Come on!”
“Thanks for the sympathy.” I muttered. Anne pulled faster. My legs felt like jelly.
“Okay, sneak in your window. Pretend you’ve been crying over Eloise. Hurry!” Anne whispered. I nodded and ran quietly to my house. I climbed in the window. I looked back over at Anne, who hid behind a hut, then ran to her house, climbing in the window. I sighed.
“Safe.” I breathed.
“Safe from what?” I looked up, terrified at my parents, their mad faces glaring down at mine.
