Rowena was the head of her house, Ravenclaw. However, no source is said that she teach any lesson. But she certainly had a high degree of talent at charms. And they also say that she made the diadem on her own so nobody else than her can get the power the diadem has. Some people also say that Rowena did the architectural plan for Hogwarts and is therefore talented in the field of magical architecture. Others say that she was talented in divination because of her dream of finding the name of Hogwarts.
Rowena had a daughter at Hogwarts which she would experience a great tragedy. Helena is actually the ghost of the Ravenclaw we know as "Gray Lady". Rowena educated her daughter with her own hands.
