Hermione Jean Granger was born on the 19th of September 1979. She was a muggle-born, daughter to two dentists who were accepting of the wizarding world and proud of her accomplishments. Her parents' real names have not been confirmed, but after Hermione obliviated them they became Wendell and Monica Wilkins. At the age of eleven, she learned about her magical nature and was accepted into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Hermione began attending Hogwarts in 1991 and was Sorted into Gryffindor House, although the Sorting Hat had trouble deciding between Ravenclaw and Gryffindor, as Hermione was pretty smart as well as brave. The reason why she ended up in Gryffindor may have been because she preferred Gryffindor-the Sorting Hat takes student's personal preferences into mind. It also may be because she values bravery over intelligence. She got her wand from Ollivander's shortly before Hogwarts and it was 10¾" long, made of vine wood, and possessed a dragon heartstring core. The wand was manufactured by Garrick Ollivander sometime before Hermione's education at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
