The Deathly Hallows: Good or Bad? (Interview/Opinion)

Chapter 1
The Deathly Hallows: Good or Bad?

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD! DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THE DEATHLY HALLOWS OR WATCHED THE MOVIE!

We all know about The Deathly Hallows! The end to the beloved Harry Potter series. For some people it’s the best book (or movie) of the series! For others, they hate how it ended, and a lot of the stuff in between. Let’s hear the opinions of some people on HiH!

Q: After reading/watching The Deathly Hallows book/movie for the first time, what did you think about it? Good, bad, interesting?

Answer - Celeste Evergreen: I really loved the Deathly Hallows book and movie. It wasn't my favorite book/movie of the Harry Potter series, but it was thrilling all the same. For the book, it was really quite intense and I loved it. I think the movies did a great job capturing the sadness, emotions, and theme of the book, and overall a great experience to watch. They also introduced the Cursed Child at the very end (in the "Nineteen Years Later" epilogue) which I thought was great! But many characters were killed off, some of my favorites, in fact. In conclusion, the 7th book, and the two Deathly Hallow movies were wonderful, and an (almost) perfect way to end the Harry Potter series.

Answer - Milly Moody: I thought both the book and movie were great and very exciting! I do prefer the book, because - well, it's the book! It was interesting that it was set in places that weren't Hogwarts. So yeah, I think the deathly Hallows is amazing (but very very sad).

Q: In your opinion, what was the best feel good moment in the book/movie The Deathly Hallows?

Answer - Jess Granger: For me, it was when the Trio came back to Hogwarts and everyone was so excited to see them and wanted to help!

Answer - Arianna: I do not know, but I think it's when Harry and Hermione are in Godric Hollow, in the cemetery visiting his parents graves. I think it really adds to the sad, but action packed book!

Q: Did you ever have second thoughts about your first reaction to The Deathly Hallows? Were you ever displeased with anything about the ending, the way characters turned out, etc?

Answer - Daisy Fire: I don't actually remember when I first watched the movie, and when I read the book, I was so surprised that J.K Rowling killed so many characters in it. Fred, Tonks, Lupin, Hedwig, Dobby and Snape. I do like the book, but I don’t think it is the best book in the series. So overall, my reaction didn’t change too much!

Answer - Hermione Black: I did have second thoughts towards my first reaction of the book since I thought many more characters would've survived, than to what was written. The most displeasing thing about the book was in the last few chapters when everyone started dying, and I know people have to die, but I think it was unnecessary for J.K. Rowling to kill both Remus and Tonks, leaving their child an orphan and to kill Fred, leaving his twin brother George miserable for the rest of his life. I think the way the characters turned out in the epilogue was pretty predictable, so I was fine with that part.

So most of the people we interviewed liked the book, but they definitely had some parts they really didn’t like! What do you think? Having second thoughts? Post your answer to these same questions about The Deathly Hallows in the HDN readers group!
