Loyalty and trust is a big characteristic of the members in Hufflepuff. They are the kindest of all, is very generous, is very loyal and is around people they know they can trust.
But, with all this being said, this does not justify that they are "soft" in a bad way. Messing with a Hufflepuff is something really bad that you could do. this breaks the trust between you and them, they may be a great friend but hurting them or their family will get them mad and defensive.
We do not want to go own that path, as they are very fierce and strong people.
